Thank You Notes: Sick Day and Kindness

Posted on

Welcome to Thank You Notes!

I love Fridays, I love thank you notes, and I love Jimmy’s Thank You Notes. So, naturally, Fridays here on my blog means: Thank You Notes and Jimmy Fallon.

Here are Jimmy’s weekly Thank You Notes:

Sorry I’m running a bit behind. I was placed on strict orders to relax & go to sleep early yesterday. (I no longer own a laptop, so I’m hoping Santa will hook me up for days like these or when I want to get out and type. Blogging on you iPad is NO FUN.) I usually type up my Thank You Notes posts Thursday afternoons (preferably before the kids come home), but yesterday as the day went on I felt terrible. It just so happened that my husband came home early yesterday, which was nice BUT he asked me to relax. Relaxing is hard for me because I always feel like there is something to do. However, I listened! Okay, it took me a little while, but I finally listened. I laid on the couch and watched TV. I did get up to pick up my daughter from school, after that I felt worse. 🙁 She then became a mini version of my husband and banished me to the cave (the loft upstairs), there, again I laid & watched TV. She brought up green tea with lime, and then I watched Ellen. I love Ellen, I don’t get to watch her show as much anymore, so yeah this was a treat. Laughter is the best medicine.

My husband picked up the littles. When they got home they were super sweet to me, checking on me, giving me kisses, and my youngest daughter made me more tea. 🙂

My husband took care of dinner he ordered Pho. Pho is one of my favorite soups, I especially love to eat it when we’re not feeling well. After I ate my husband gave me medicine and set up the TV from the cave in our bedroom. (I may have made a few mentions that I needed to get my Thank You Notes post up, which may have resulted in multiple side eyes.) I hated checking out early, but I did it. They all gave me kisses & well wishes, and then I was off to bed. I watched some Netflix but not for long. I was asleep waaaay before my kids last night. While laying in bed watching Netflix I thought, “Is this real life? Am I really in bed watching grownup shows?” Sadly, I couldn’t hang to watch that many shows because my body tapped out on me.

Anyway, that ended up being a long-winded THANK YOU!

Thank you, family, for being my rock, for making me slow down, also for making sure I don’t forget the word RELAX, like I do so often.

Thank you, for the countless I love yous and kisses & hugs.

Thank you, for the little things & big things.

* Confession I wrote the above at 5:40ish in the morning on my iPhone. My husband had already left for work and the kids weren’t awake. I got up took a shower and got ready for my day, and now some new thank you notes:

Thank you, for packing lunches! Thank you, for having the downstairs clean!! Thank you, for a super easy morning!! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!!

Since I’m here and I’m already late, I’ll share some more Thank You Notes. 😀

Thank you, teachers, for all your hard work! I’m an art docent ( docent- a fancy word for volunteer or guide) for my kiddos’ school. After spending Friday morning with the substitute teacher I decided the teachers needed some caffeine in their lives. Those kids were all jacked up on Friday, they were like mini versions of me excited for Friday! 😀 You know what I say Friday is the big fancy pep rally for the weekend. I had to get those teachers geared up!

Thank you, sweetie, for doing your Pay It Forward project on Friday, we needed it. I know you were shy at first, but you made many people smile. I hope you never forget that feeling. Pay It Forward After handing out popcorn in front of a Redbox and at a grocery store, she thought we should give some to the Startbucks baristas. The barista upfront was so sweet she just couldn’t believe that the popcorn was for them. 🙂

Thank you, nail polish, for being my flaky friend. I love you but you let me down sometimes.  You’re there for me two maybe three days strong making me look good, but then I start getting compliments and boom! You flaked on me.

Looks like it is time for me to swap to nail wraps.

Thank you, windy, rainy, blustery November storm, for taking out our power for around 12 HOURS! Seriously, it was kind of nice to unplug. We had teriyaki dinner by candlelight, we played 20 questions, there was a Harry Potter reading in our best English voices, and tons of snuggles. Unfortunately, there were also bed wars, when you have extra little people in your bed you may get the people’s elbow in your face.

Thank you, kind people! Those of you who go out into the world and smile, love, give, and hold doors, thank you!

Kind people are the best

THANK YOU FRIDAY!!!!

9 3/4! That is hilarious. I love them.
Hope you’re feeling well. We all four got sick and it was a three week cold, I kid you not. And we didn’t all get it at once, so it was spread out about two months. I was so miserable because I’m miserable when I’m sick but even more so when they are. And we all were. Sob.
So cute about the pay it forward project! I love that a cop is in the photo.

I saw the 9 3/4 Somee Card and totally chortled to myself. I thought some people will get this, and others… lost souls. 🙂
I’m glad you and your family are all better, it’s horrible when everyone slowly gets “it”.
The pay it forward project was fun, the cop was funny, he was just as excited as the barista. He didn’t want any popcorn, she asked. 🙂

Oh, no! I hope you feel better soon! You truly have a family to be thankful for. Rest, my dear, and listen to your body. Sometimes rest is all we need. Take care…sending you a BIG hug!!! 🙂

I received that hug, thank you! I’m feeling better, I’m not 100% but that’s okay. I *tried* to relax this weekend, but I’m me. 😀

Hope you’re feeling better. I have a hard time resting, too. I love that you’re promoting kindness. Definitely need more of that in the world.

Thank you, I’m almost all better, I think, maybe I shouldn’t say anything, I don’t want to jinx anything….

Yes, the world needs more kindness for sure. Let’s be the good! 🙂

We lost power for a couple hours when I was visiting my family over the summer and my mom and I played a board game by candlelight, which was so much fun! We couldn’t convince my dad and sister, unfortunately.
I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well! I’m so like you on feeling like I should be doing things even when I’m sick 😉

Playing board games by candlelight sounds fun! I think we should unplug more often & do things like this.
So, I’m not alone. I can relax at night with my family, but during the day I’m always on. I can only watch TV if I’m sweeping, folding clothes, or planning, otherwise I feel like a big o’ lazy pants.
      XOXO

Your husband sounds so sweet and takes good care of you when you are sick! I have had to depend on my husbands help with everything when I’ve gotten really sick before in the past (like last Christmas Eve when I had a 104 temp!!!)
