Being a little selfish today…

Sooooooo… today I’m going to address my selfishness. Yes, I am selfish.

I’ve been so happy spending time with the kids this summer thus far, BUT……. I miss my Tuesday dates. My husband works from home on Tuesdays, which gave the two of us, ‘us’ time. On Tuesdays, while the kids were still in school, we would find new foodie spots in the area and go for either breakfast or lunch, we’d take walks with our fur baby, and I had a workout partner.  Tuesdays became the new Monday for us lately.

Coffee Date with Mr. AOK: Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress

I know what you’re thinking, “Why not go out at night?”  Well, we don’t know anyone here enough to take care of our kiddos.  We do not have family near, so all we have, is each other.  As much as I LOVE being with the kids all the time, it’s nice every once and awhile to be together  just the two of us.  I feel like such whiner, admitting this….

CoffeeDate: Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress

My husband and I were getting spoiled with our little dates.  For the longest time, we would wait till the kids would go to bed to have “our” time.  I remember one time we changed the clocks in the house to reflect bedtime to get the girls to sleep early.  It worked!!  Thankfully, the sun was on our side, oh, and blackout curtains 😉

It is summer in South Carolina, the sun goes down when it feels like it, and the kids are older now… they’re on to our shenanigans.  We will still have our late night at-home-movie-dates and the occasional at-home-coffee-dates, I do enjoy those 🙂

I feel slightly bratty posting this, but I’m just keepin’ it real.  It felt nice to date my husband again.  However, I’m thankful for our night-in-dates, knowing that our house is filled with love and the kids are okay.

Life is good, I shouldn’t complain.

XOXO

I love all of your photos! I know what you mean, we don’t really have any night time babysitters either. Our parents do live around us but it’s hard for them to watch our daughter at night. We settle for afternoon dates! It’s not selfish, it’s essential to have time for yourselves!

Thank you, Karen. I have the worst Mommy guilt, it’s bad!
I love “our” time, even if it’s just the two of us on our deck sippin’ coffee and talking politics…. or sports 🙂
You are SO right, couple time is essential to a marriage.
      OXOXO

I love doing this with my husband too. Its not very often that we get the chance to go out very often without the kids.

I think it’s nice that we both enjoy dating our husbands. My hubby and I, are going on 13 years of marriage, and I still cannot get enough of him.
Here’s to dating our husbands and many, many, many, more happy years.

Oh I can so relate with the no babysitter but unlike you I only get to be with my husband on Sundays. When I’m getting in the house he’s heading out the door for work. We decided that that day was going to be our day no matter what. I so love “us” time and it’s really needed in a relationship.

I’m SO happy the two of you have Sundays!
I know I’ll have my Tuesdays in a few short months… for now I’ll take my late-night-at-home-date-night 🙂
I cannot wait for you to be 100% , then you and your honey can enjoy every Sunday together out on the town.
      XOXO

It’s ok to be selfish sometimes! 😉 I’d miss my husband time too! To make you feel better, on Monday, I ONLY watched Gossip Girl and played with Sophie. Not one other thing. It was amazing. I usually can’t stand to do nothing but GG had me!

A marathon and baby time sounds AWESOME! I miss those days….
I’m the same way, I hate to feel idle….
HOWEVER… if you’re folding clothes and marathoning it’s not as bad, well at least for me, it makes me feel better 🙂

I think it’s okay to be selfish especially with your quality time. Hubby and I used to do the same thign during school…a late brunch at IHop….Starbucks…a Matinee… now that summer is out our escapes are a lot less often as well. xoxo

All of you ladies are making me feel better, I was starting to feel a smidge bratty for posting this post.
I’m glad the two of you take advantage of “couple” time too 🙂
      XOXO

Psh! I’m all for it, especially clever tricks like moving the clocks back. We use blackout curtains, lol. How else am I supposed to trick Dylan into going back to sleep when he wakes up at 5am? So good. Those Tuesday’s sound dreamy! I would be bummed out too if they were interrupted lol

Thank goodness for BLACKOUT CURTAINS!! Can I get an amen 😀

I don’t think you are being selfish at all! Having a strong relationship with your husband is good for your ability to parent your children. It also provides them with the model of a healthy relationship. All couples need time alone. Although I’ll admit, even I’m a little jealous of your weekly dates and those delectable pictures of food and coffee didn’t help much. 🙂
