Tour Through Blogland: Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress

Welcome Tour Through Blogland Mrs. AOK

Hello & Welcome to my little home in Blogland.  My sweet friend MrsTee, invited me to join The Tour Through Blogland, and I accepted, gratefully!  MrsTee is such a sweetheart, I hope you will visit her home, she is such a wonderful friend/supporter of everyone in blogland ♡

Well, let’s start this journey.  :: Pours coffee::

Breakfast 2

Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress, has become one of my happy places.  My blog rightfully entitled “A Work In Progress” was created to journal my progression through life, never did I think my blog would actually help me to progress. Blogging has helped me to find my confident voice and share it here, with you♡  Last year, was the year I decided to take blogging more seriously, and began connecting with other bloggers.   I’m pleasantly surprised with all the love that has been brought to light in Blogland, it’s no wonder I’m here– I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon 🙂

As part of the tour, you will hopefully get to know a little more about me, my blog, and my blogging process.  I’ve been given four questions to answer, let’s call them icebreakers 🙂

Me, thinking...

This is my thinking face, not my b*tch face…

What are you working on?

Currently, I’m working on growing the new linkup I started with a little help from my friends, Courtney & Katy.  Our linkup >> That’s What She Said <<:D  That line never gets old for me.  That’s What She Said, is a monthly linkup for bloggers to become inspired with the quote of the month.  The quotes we choose each month are words by women, hence the name, That’s What SHE Said, hopefully the quotes will inspire bloggers to write something.  It’s a blogging prompt challenge… sort of ❤  Our first linkup went live on September 10th, and it will run through September 30TH (eh hem, September 30th, good day… eh hem)   Hey, just got an idea, you should linkup!

That's What She Said Button

I get by with a little help from my friends

I also have a vlog in the works, I have to edit it, but it’s coming soon… stay tuned!  I hope to share it via MrsTee’s, Your Channel or Mine Vlog Hop, this Thursday.

How does your work differ from others of its genre?

I don’t know what my genre is… this question has me perplexed.  I just don’t like labeling myself, because I could change tomorrow, I’m a work in progress 🙂  I think many consider me a Mommy blogger, but I’m not sure if I consider myself a “mommy blogger” I’m a mommy who happens to blog.  I co-host the Mommy Monday Blog Hop, so I can see how Mommy Blogger has become become my label by some.Mommy Monday Blog Hop

Motherhood-Town-Hall2

I also started #MotherhoodChat with Trish, we’re on a hiatus right now, but I would LOVE to get these chats going again.

Nothing brings me greater joy than being a♡ mother, so I do speak of motherhood often.   Although, I’m a mother that doesn’t necessarily mean that is all I am, I am SO much more, but Motherhood is my proudest accomplishment.  Yes, anyone can be a mother, but I’m proud of the mother I am, I think I’m doing quite well.  If you feel the need to call me a Mommy Blogger, sure go ahead, but don’t forget I’m also a woman who cares about women, kindness,  and love.  I love to share acts of kindness and things I love.  I love food so you will find recipes here, I also love to DIY,  those are occasionally sprinkled here on my blog.  I have a big mouth, if there’s a hot topic I NEED to address, more than likely I will touch on it here.  I may get heated… sorry, not sorry 😉

Why do you write/create what you do?

Me at three

lwHbepymKURd_lhhB2wgbIyccRtSKSJG3AtLVprbk60Mainly, for this girl….

Writing is therapeutic for me.  I need my writing time, it’s good for me, and it’s good for all those around me.  I am happy that my blog has given me a place to share my thoughts, I’m able to reflect and track my progression 😉  Also, there are few love notes here on my blog, if my kids or husband ever doubt my love, this blog is affirmation. ❤

How does your writing/creating process work?

More coffee! I sit down at my desk in the corner of my office, I try to clear my mind and go. However, my best ideas usually come to me in the shower or while I’m somewhere away from my computer, this calls for pen & paper.  Many of my blog posts are handwritten first, I’m old school like that. Last week I started to tweet, 140 characters wasn’t enough, I created a whole post to get it all out of me head. >> Tweet turned blog post

Blog Break

I read this quote somewhere, and it resonated with me.

Blog what you live

I want to make my words count, but most importantly my life count.

I write from the heart.

The Furbaby & I {my writing companion}My writing companion is usually at my feet snoring.  I love this crazy furbaby, even though he drives me nuts, it’s nice to have him near. Except when he farts, that’s not cool.

Well, the coffee is all done….

All Done

The party doesn’t have to end though, go ahead and click around.  Snooping/stalking is cool with me 🙂

The next stop on your Blogland journey will be at my girl Courtney’s spot.

Oh, friend, you look so, so, so lovely <3

I've tried vlogging twice, but then I realized that I needed some kind of editing software, cause it was kinda just me…there…talking. Haha. It needed a few bells and whistles (music, captions, cuts maybe?). I've been wanting to look into that.

I love the super-80's headband, tube socks picture :). Your eldest looks so much like you when she was that age.

P.S. I'm so jealous that you have an office. I happily gave mine up for Apollo, but now that my desk and bookshelf is downstairs, it has become everyone's storage area =/ Mama needs to reclaim her space!

      Thanks, Shelly!
I think I have vlogged three times, and I kind of feel the same way 🙂
I totally see my mini me in that picture.
Absolutely LOVE my office, however I do share it…
It’s nice to have a door to shut when I need complete isolation to think.
      XOXO

You’re so pretty in that photo! (and all photos)
I love looking at this. I find it hard to label too. I’m not a photography blogger because I write so much. I’m not a parenting blogger because I’m not entirely useful with my kid related posts. I’m not a mental health blogger, although my blog has taken that turn lately.
I need more coffee with my blogging, though!

Awww thank you, Tamara!! You’re too kind.
I know people say pick your niche/genre, but I’ve always been the kid that gets along with everyone.
You know how in high school there were clicks, well, I got along with all of them. I had my group of friends, but I had no problem hanging out with other groups.

      Always, coffee with blogging!

You my dear are beautiful! I love your pictures. I’m definitely not a mommy blogger either. Just because I have kids doesn’t mean that’s all I am. And I love to vlog, it’s just finding time.
P.S. I totally want to have coffee with you, followed by margaritas! xoxo

Soooooo, when can we hook up for this meeting, because I. am. in!
I’d love to meet you in person over drinks 🙂
You’re such a sweetheart, Chastity! Thank you!

I’ve done a few vlogs, I just don’t know if I’m comfortable doing them…. quite yet.
Yes, time is a HUGE factor. I still haven’t edited the vlog I did LAST WEEK.
      XOXO

          September 19, 2014 at 12:46 pm

I’m not sure I can handle shots anymore 🙂 But I’m totally down to meet somewhere in the middle. Are you going to Bloggy Boot Camp ATL?
          XO

I’d be flat on my ass after a couple of shots. 😉 I’m not going to bloggy boot camp. I want to try and go next year. I hope you have an awesome time there. I want you to share all you learn with me. xoxo

Coffee makes everything better. i can’t wait until it gets cooler so I can really cozy up with my mug in the mornings!

I love that quote about blogging. It is so important to have balance and sometimes it’s hard to remember that we are blogging to document our lives and not the other way around!

      September 18, 2014 at 7:09 pm

Crisp mornings with a nice cup of hot coffee, pure perfection <3

I believe as bloggers it's easy to get wrapped up in the blog-hype and Pintastical-ways. Nevertheless, life can be just as amazing if we just… lived.

      XOXO

STRIKE THROUGH THE HEART, and you’re to blame 🙂 I’m joking!
Believe it or not once upon a sad time, I did not care for coffee either, I’m addicted, now.

I’ll be over to check out your tour 😉
      Thanks for stopping in!

I loved reading this about you! And I agree about the mommy blogger title, it’s hard to not get labeled that since it’s so much apart of our lives (our kids and family!) but we’re also women with our own dreams and ponderings and issues outside of being a mom. I actually wouldn’t label you a mommy blogger, you do great at keeping a mix of things. I also loved reading about your writing inspiration and your blogging buddy 🙂 And I love to have a cup of coffee when blogging, it’s so perfect!

    1. MrsA0K2001

      September 19, 2014 at 11:11 pm

Yes, motherhood is a huge part of who we are, I can see how we get lumped in the “just a mom” category, but just a mom is a bad ass super hero 🙂
      Coffee + blogging= perfection
      Thank you, Jessica.
      XOXO
