Yesterday, I fuged-up, I forgot to schedule my daughter’s The Catcher In The Book post. However, I’m not mad at myself. I’m kind of glad…
You see, yesterday, I backed away from my blog, my computer, and my beloved iPhone, for some much needed unplugged time. Since, it is summer, and all three of the kiddos are home, I really try to limit my time on the computer and iPhone. As much as I want my blog to grow, I want to watch them grow. Sometimes, I feel like I cannot do that completely, if I’m in my office or attached to my precious iPhone. Yes, a bit of guilt is talking. I know these kids are showered with tons of attention, heck, one of them is right next to me asking to draw a picture in the office, BUT when it comes to their breaks… I feel an ultra need to savor every moment I have with them.
I love my blog, and I love when friends come share their thoughts on my blog, it makes me HAPPY. When I begin to neglect my blog, I again have a bit of guilt…. blogger guilt?
Anyway, today, is Christmas in July at the AOK household. Therefore, once again, I will be away from social media & blogland. However, I just wanted to let you know what we’re up to, today.
Today we will bake cookies, make paper snowflakes, while listening to Christmas music, and later on tonight we will watch the Elf while sippin’ hot coco, in our Christmas jammies… it’s one of those kooky traditions that I love.
I hope you all have a Merry Day!
Does anyone else feel the same?

July 26, 2014 at 3:36 pmI was really wound up about not having much work this summer, and then I thought to myself “Isn’t this what you always say you are going to do? Take the summer off?” So I’ve been sitting at the beach with the kids, reading, working crossword puzzles. I actually feel really rested and stress-free (most of the time). It’s so easy to forget to slow down. Summer is short.

July 26, 2014 at 3:59 pmExactly!!! I want to relax and enjoy this short time. We only have a few more weeks left and I plan to take full advantage of it with the kids. We need more beach time! Well rested and stress-free… I’d love to have some of that! I’m joining you, Sarah. Here’s to a well rested, kick-backed, sandy toes (rest of) summer.

July 27, 2014 at 12:17 amYour Christmas in July tradition sounds like so much fun! Lately, I’ve been dealing with a little blogging guilt, too, but it’s so nice to step away from the computer and really live.

July 28, 2014 at 9:18 amI agree, it’s nice to just take a minute and remember what it was like before I was always linked in. Nevertheless, I love blogging, I love the blogging life, and I love all who come to be with me and share love here and on social media! I just need to find a balance.
Christmas in July is fun, it is like breakfast for dinner multiplied by 100 🙂
All the best!
XOXO

July 27, 2014 at 5:06 pmWhat a fun thing to do! I honestly can’t even think about Christmas until late November, but it seems like it’s been trending lately! I wonder why.
And I totally get it about the guilt..

July 28, 2014 at 9:30 amOne year, we wanted to do something special with the girls for summer, we decided to create winter in summer. The following summer the girls were counting down the days for Christmas in July, alas a tradition was born 🙂
We love it. Christmas in July does not include a trip from Santa or a required purchased gift in our house. However, we do make homemade presents for each other; this year rainbow loom bracelets and keychains were a big hit 🙂 Regifting is totally cool too.
We mainly just enjoy the holiday family feeling….
XOXO

July 27, 2014 at 9:57 pmMy FAVE line is wanting to watch THEM grow. Damn right! Priorities people! Yay for enjoying the summer!

July 28, 2014 at 9:35 amThanks girlie! Being an honorary Latina 😉 you know how us Latinas are, we get all emotional when it comes to our kids, we smother them, we feed them good… and their friends 🙂 Summer just enhances our overbearing, extreme loving, and hypersensitive guilt passed down from generation to generation 😀 Happy Summer, hermana!

July 28, 2014 at 8:45 amWhat a cool idea! I ‘ve heard of the saying Christmas In July but never thought of actually having it! 😀 Love that… I know exactly what you mean about mommy and blogger guilt – it can be a tough balance. Yet with such great traditions as Christmas In July I know your Kids know what your true priorities are! 😀 xoxoxoxo

July 28, 2014 at 9:42 amAww thanks, Tiffany! I swear you’re one of the sweetest people… ever! We absolutely love Christmas in July, it kinda brings back that magical holiday family feeling. I love it! Seriously, it’s breakfast for dinner multiplied by 100, plus there is no need for presents just holiday cheer.

July 29, 2014 at 11:21 amI love the idea of a Christmas in July tradition! I would love to do this with my kids some day 🙂

July 31, 2014 at 2:08 pmHow cute! I’ve always looked at Christmas in July as more of a shopping thing but your way of celebrating is a fantastic idea. It looks like your family had a wonderful time and that is truly what matters most!

August 1, 2014 at 6:41 pmThank you, Stephanie. We love our little upside-down day 🙂 It’s cheery, jolly, and fun.
You should try it 🙂

August 8, 2014 at 10:43 amYes, guilt all around! I imagined this summer being so relaxing, take Eve on trips to the beach, but then life got in the way (particularly moving!) I’ve been slacking on things blog-related since going to BlogHer, but again that is due to the move. We only have so many hours in the day, and we need to take a break from the online world sometimes. Sounds like you had a fun day with your family, and a well-deserved break for you!
MrsA0K2001
August 9, 2014 at 5:17 pmYes, moving can be quite consuming! I *totally* understand that. Was this your first blog conference? What did you think? I haven’t been to one yet, can you tell? I’m attending my first one this October 🙂
Sometimes, I gather I will never be a huge popular blogger, because I’m such a Suzie Homebody with Mama-Guilt bigger than one should lug around daily…
XOXO

August 10, 2014 at 6:31 pmOh, have fun! Is it one of the Bloggy Bootcamps? This was actually my second time attending BlogHer, I hope next year to check out some other blogging conferences as well!
MrsA0K2001
August 17, 2014 at 12:55 pmYes, ma’am 😉 Bloggy Bootcamp ATL
Wow–two trips to Blogher! Every time I think about how I did NOT attend BlogHer Chicago last year, I get mad at myself all over again. I just didn’t see myself as a “blogger” yet.

July 1, 2015 at 8:38 pmThank you. 🙂
Trust me, I never thought I would have celebrated Christmas in July either, but it’s a thing now. No takebacks. 🙂
