It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

*I received a free wooden watch from JORD in exchange for writing this post on my blog.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, right? Of course it is. It’s crazy that I am talking time, me, the lady who has consistently struggled with it lately. There are days where I feel like all I do is stare at the time ticking by as I scurry to hold on tight. It is all passing by too fast. However, as much as I am continually gobsmacked at how fast time is slippin’ slippin’ into the future, I am wildly excited for this time of year, even if it came faster than I was ready for.

Its' the most wonderful time of the year for gift giving! This JORD watch for him is stunning. Plus I'm sharing a PROMO CODE just for my readers. :) JORD

Christmas Time is Here Happiness and Cheer

Bring on the cheer, the holiday magic, the twinkly lights, all the Christmas music, latkes, and the childhood glee that breathes life back into me. I know this time of year can be stressful, but I NEED the cheer right now, the bright lights… the jubilant bliss! Things have been murky lately, well, almost all of 2017, actually. And for that reason, I welcome this season with open arms.

Do you follow me on Instagram? If you are not, chop, chop, get to it. Did you see my Instagram story where I decorated my daughter’s room for her birthday? My youngest daughter is my very own real life Christmas elf. She loves all things Christmas, so each year I decorate her room Christmassy. This year the task of being mama elf garnered an immense feeling of hope for more cheery times. I’m pumped for it all. I’ve already purchased a few things for our Christmas countdown and I am ready to talk holiday gifts and gift guides!! I hope you’re ready too.

Let’s Rewind the Hands of Time to that Time When I Talked about Our Move and JORD

This summer I moved from Washington (state) to Illinois. Before I moved I announced the move on my blog and I shared the tradition my husband and I have with every new job or promotion. If you missed the post about our move and our watch tradition you can check it out here. What you missed in that post: my husband got a new job within his company and to celebrate my friends at JORD helped us keep our watch tradition. My husband received a stunning JORD Dover Koa & Black Wood Watch.

Stunning, right? My husband is absolutely in love with his watch. Wherever he goes (because sometimes his new job takes him places) he gets tons of compliments and no lie people will ask to take a picture of his watch.

It’s Gifting Time and JORD Makes the Top of the Good List

Because his watch is such a big hit with him, with strangers, with ME- JORD makes my list for one of the best gifts for him. 🙂 There’s a gift guide coming, but I thought JORD needed a little extra love. Besides the beauty of this watch, we love that the watch is versatile my husband is able to wear his watch with jeans and tees or suites and ties. The unique wood makes it a conversation piece because not many people own wood watches, but they should, because hello, look at this beauty.

Gifts for him: Conway Kosso and Midnight Blue JORD watch. Promo code.

Holiday Tradition and a Story of Holiday Kindness

Day 11: Tradition

I cannot believe it’s already DAY 11 of Blogmas!! Today’s prompt is holiday traditions. We have so many traditions. I think you I shared quite a bit of our traditions in my Holiday Bucket List post. But there is one thing I didn’t cover that is a tradition of ours that I love. (I’m also re-sharing an older post within this post.)

Merry Blogmas! Day 11 Tradition {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

Saint Nicholas Day

Saint Nicholas Day is a day my kids look forward to every year. On the night of December 5th the kids leave out their boots in hopes that St. Nick will bring them some goodies. If he does, that usually means there will be a visit on the 25th. 🙂 This tradition is near and dear to us, because it’s a tradition my husband is carrying on from his German roots. My mother-in-law is 1st generation German-American, so keeping German customs alive is big for her.

I just want to bottle up all these memories and keep them forever. ✨ Boots were filled. 🙌🏽

A photo posted by Dean 👌🏽 (@mrs_aok) on

Of course I support carrying on family tradition. And if you read Thursday’s post you know I lived in Germany when I was younger, so I already had the great pleasure of having my boot filled by St. Nick. I’m glad we started leaving boots out for St. Nick once my husband and I became parents. St. Nick has visited every year since. 🙂

Happy #StNicholasDay!

A video posted by Dean 👌🏽 (@mrs_aok) on

We didn’t always have “special Christmas boots” for each of our children. My oldest daughter uses my husband’s old Christmas boot from when he was a kid, my youngest daughter has her own boot that I found by chance when she was a baby, but our boy didn’t have one. He went a few Christmases with using his shoe (which is totally traditional). Here’s a story about the day we found a boot for him…

St. Nicholas Day| Boots

The Christmas Boot

It was a few Christmases ago, I was with my babies shopping at Target.  The holiday spirit was dampened by the devastating news of what happened in Connecticut at an elementary school.  In spite of that horrific situation, I was trying to remain jubilant.  We strolled down the Holiday aisles of Target, seeing the kids smile and get excited for Santa’s visit was SO uplifting to me.  I needed it.

St. Nicholas Day Boot| St. Nicholas Day| Kindness| Season's Greetings

While we were at Target looking at all the Christmas decorations I saw a boot.  Not, like a boot, boot, but a mug-like boot.  I picked it up and showed the kids.  The kids and I had been on the lookout for a boot for St. Nicholas day.

Out of nowhere this sweet older woman with a Sox jacket came up to me and asked me about the boot.  I told her how my girls both have boots for St. Nicholas day, but my son did not have one.  He was using a shoe for St. Nicholas day, while the girls both had pretty ceramic boots to set out for St. Nick each year. I was debating if I should get this plastic mug boot because it wasn’t as nice as the girls.  The lady smiled and said you should get him the boot.  🙂

Target Shopper

Mrs. Claus

She kept looking at the babies with such endearing eyes.  She made small talk with the kiddos and then we wished each other a good day.  I thought that was it, but our paths crossed again in the store.  The sweet woman came up to me and said Merry Christmas buy something for the babies and proceeded to place money in MY pocket!

(I’m crying now thinking about that day.)  I remember feeling so thankful for that.  The spirit of the holidays was there in that sweet woman.  I needed that.  Not the money, but I needed to know people were good.  I needed my kids to know the same.  The littles asked half jokingly, “What if she is Mrs. Claus?”  At that moment she was.  This woman gave me a present, she restored my faith in humanity if just for a few.  I had been crying myself to sleep those days thinking of the families who wouldn’t have the holidays with their babies or loved ones.

Needless to say, I went back to the plastic Santa boot mug and purchased it for my boy.  It may not be as fancy as my girls’ ceramic boots but it has such a lovely story behind it, I had to have it.

Leavenworth, Washington and Trees on Parade

It’s DAY 9 OF 12 DAYS OF BLOGMAS!! Wow! Time is flying! Today we’re sharing local holiday attractions. I’m actually sharing a twofer! I’m telling you all about Leavenworth, WA and I’m inviting you into my home for the Christmas Trees on Parade.

Merry Blogmas! Day 9 Local Holiday Attractions {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

First up Leavenworth

I moved to Washington over a year ago, last year through the power of the internet and word of mouth we found out about a little village that was full of holiday cheer. Leavenworth is a small Bavarian village that I had to visit once I found out about it. The mountains, the lights, the Christkindlmarkt! When I was younger I lived in Germany, so seeing that there was a taste of Bavaria near me we had to go!

The drive to Leavenworth was beautiful at times, but also a little to winding for this Texas girl. The drive home was another story, but we won’t get into that. Let’s just talk fun, food, and lights!

Christkindlemarket Parade Leavenworth WA

We visited Leavenworth during their annual Christkindlmarkt (Bavarian Christmas Market). During this time there’s a lantern parade, with Santa, Christkind, and St. Nicholas.

The lights are amazing all around, over 1 million! My babies approve. 🙂

Gingerbread Factory Leavenworth, WA.

You can’t escape the beautiful mountain views. My pictures cannot even do the views justice. The views, the jubilance, and the smells cannot be captured in pictures, you have to experience it for yourself.

There are cute shops, a spot for kids to play, good food, and there’s always something happening during the month of December.

The lights on all the trees were beautiful!

Speaking of trees…

Christmas Tress on Parade: I'm sharing my Christmas Tree along with a few other bloggers. Come take a peek into our homes for the holidays.

I’m excited to be a part of Christmas Trees on Parade hosted by Terri Steffes of Christmas Tree Lane . A group of bloggers including myself are letting you into our homes to share our Christmas Trees.

O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum {O fir tree}

Fun fact: When I was little I knew the song O Tannenbaum before I knew the song O Christmas Tree. I didn’t know all the words as it was in German and I was not even four years old, but O Tannenbaum was one of favorites to try to sing.

Thankfully, you don’t have to hear me sing today. 🙂 Instead you get to read about my tree, but mostly see a ton of pictures of my tree. 🙂

Decorating the Tree

As November comes to a close there’s so much anticipation to put up our tree and decorate. My youngest two are always exploding with excitement to get the tree and all the decorations up (I talked about that here).

Decorating the tree is a full contact sport here and everyone is in on it.

(Trying to light the tree evenly is always a problem for us. Do you have any tips? He was working hard to get the lights evened out. I was busy supervising the effort.) Here’s my tip for you: string your lights on a hanger it makes things easier for storage and for wrapping the tree.

I helped too, but of course there isn’t a picture of me to prove it.

What goes on the tree?

Just about everything! The kids have made a thousand ornaments over the years, we’ve  been given plenty of family ornaments, and our tree is heavily stocked with Hallmark ornaments too. This year was the first year we kind of scaled back on the ornaments. It also helps that the kids have their own trees and we have a smaller tree in the kitchen to help with a little overflow.

The red rectangle ornament is actually from Leavenworth, it has a Santa image and Leavenworth engraved on it.

Red glittery snowflakes are all over our tree, which leads to a dusting of glitter everywhere including ornaments. 🙂

Happy #StNicholasDay!

Back to the TREE

Because my babies all have allergies we can’t have a real tree, so I always buy an evergreen candle and light it while we decorate the tree. 😀

A tip for your faux tree: for those bare spots wrap evergreen garland around your tree and stick in artificial pine stems. I purchased a few from the floral section with pinecones and added them in the bare spots, I love the outcome.

Melt my heart. ❤️ It IS the most wonderful time of the year. 💚

Final Tip:

Have fun! You don’t have to be Pinterest perfect when it comes to your tree, especially if you have kids. Let your kids get creative with decorating. Savor these special moments with them. You can rearrange and get Pinterest-y later. There’s no present like the present… I think that’s how that goes.  🙂

Don’t forget to check out the other bloggers’ posts to see their trees and maybe get a few pointers. 🙂

And now for the NEAT part!! 😉

My friend Ashley of Happy.Pretty.Sweet nominated me for the Neat Blog Award. 🙂 And I’m accepting! Thank you, Ashley for the nomination.

Real Neat Blog Award

Here are the rules!

Post the Award logo and answer the questions asked by the person who nominated you.
2. Thank the person who nominated you in your post and link to their blog.
3. Nominate and link to some bloggers you’d like to see respond.
4. Create 7 questions for your nominees to answer & let them know they are nominated in a comment on their blog.

Here are my answers to Ashley’s questions:

        1. What’s your favorite holiday tradition? That’s tough, we have so many! We like to bake cookies with family and friends, there’s Saint Nicholas Day, Latke showdown, our Christmas Eve game night… I could keep going.
        2. What’s the best present you’ve ever been given?  The computer I’m typing this on. My husband purchased my iMac for me when I finished my degree a few years ago. 🙂
        3. What do you think is the best present you have given someone else? Life. I’m a mom and I’ve given three people life. 😀 Does that count? I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Hmmm let me think… For my husband’s birthday (when we were newlyweds) I purchased him his first grill. I put the grill together myself and placed it on our little apartment deck. He was so surprised and happy. We were so broke back then, grilling outside became our version of weekend fun. 🙂
        4. What’s at the top of your wishlist? My hippie answer: world peace, because we could totally use it. My dream answer: this Silhouette Cameo Bundle or a drum set. Real life answer:  Clothes? Camera charger for my neglected camera?
        5. What’s your favorite holiday memory? Oh my goodness I have so many favorites. As a parent I get to live through the magic of the holidays again and I’m loving it all. Seeing my babies at the top of the stairs on Christmas morning with so much joy or to see them chase an elf around the house (even though I just want to give the damn elf a sock (to free him)) it’s the best.
        6. Have you been naughty or nice this year?

             7.Do you have a go-to gift you like to give? Books, candles, gift cards. Someone once asked me what would be a good gift for my kids, I answered books. Then I got this reply, “I want to give them a real present.” Books are one of the best presents you can EVER give.

I nominate: All of you! And the 12 Days of Blogmas Bloggers

Please, please, pretty please, join me! I want to read your answers. If you join along please let me know. Consider this a blog prompt and slap that award on your blog, because I nominate all of you, my fabulous friends!!

A Gift Guide For Creative Ladies

It’s Day 7 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re talking GIFTS! Today I’m sharing a gift guide for creative ladies.

Merry Blogmas! Day 7 Gift Guide {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

All The Creative Ladies, All The Creative Ladies

Believe it or not if you’re a creative or your know a creative lady, we’re in the same boat as The Queen B herself. 🙂 That’s right, we create, defy, and we slay all day. If only we could say we were making bank like Beyonce. 🙂 Anyway, this summer I was happy when Fast Company had an article about what creatives/business owners could learn from Beyonce. Fast Company always has such great articles that totally relate to creatives, that’s why Fast Company is one of my number one picks for creatives.

One of my top picks for creatives.

I  pulled together a few goodies that would make the perfect gifts for your favorite creative lady friends (and you too, you creative, you) to slay all day.

If You Like It Put a Bow On It

I can’t speak for all creatives, I can only speak for myself, but I NEED organization and lists to keep me in check. This year things got better for me because I became more of a planner. I can no longer live without a planner. I’m in love with this Erin Condren Planner

Gifts for creative ladies: Erin Condren PlannerWhat creative wouldn’t love to create their own phone case?  I have created two cases using CaseApp, and they are the best. The case I created this time around has a quote that will remind me to just keeping being me.

It’s Day 5 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re talking HOLIDAY BAKING!! Everyone knows I’m a cookie lover and the holidays obviously means COOKIES, BUT that’s not what I’m sharing today. I know that’s a shocker coming from this cookie monster. Today I’m sharing a recipe for Johnny Appleseed Cake.

Merry Blogmas! Day 5 Baking! {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

WHAT THE HECK IS JOHNNY APPLESEED CAKE?

A few years back my family and I went to one of the most Magical Places in the world, you may have heard of it, I don’t know… Walt Disney World?

mickey-ears

Anyway, the first night that we stayed we ate dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. Liberty Tree Tavern has a colonial feel with meals that are served family style. There was turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and then there was Johnny Appleseed Bread Pudding.

Day 5 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we're sharing recipes! I'm sharing the recipe for Johnny Appleseed Cake inspired by the Johnny Appleseed Bread Pudding I tried at Walt Disney World's Liberty Tree Tavern

I had never, ever, ever, ever had this dessert in my life, but I was instantly in love. We talked about it for days, months, a year after our visit. I decided to finally make it for myself. So, last year I got to researching (aka Pinterest) and found a few recipes, but some called for canned pie filling (which doesn’t seem colonial), others used raisins, and most if not all did not call for ginger. Ginger! I’m pretty sure the taste that lingered in my mouth was ginger. I decided to pick and choose what I liked from the different recipes and then added my own spin. It was a success!!

Here’s What You Need To Make Johnny Appleseed Cake

Ingredients for Johnny Appleseed Cake

Preheat your oven to 350*

How to make Johnny Appleseed Cake

  • In a large bowl add all your dry ingredients excluding the dry cranberries.
  • In a sauce pan combine applesauce and butter and cook on low to medium heat until butter melts thoroughly. Not applesauces are created equally, some are sweeter than others, for this cake I actually prefer a sweeter sauce. This isn’t an overly sweet cake. The applesauce I used this time around wasn’t as sweet, but still worked perfectly because the toppings we added at the end were sweet, so we wouldn’t have wanted everything too sweet. Also, cinnamon applesauce works nicely too. 😉
  • Add the applesauce butter mixture to the dry ingredients stirring in the dried cranberries and grated ginger. Ginger is totally optional, but I like the spice. You can go with less ginger if you would like, but I honestly think you need the ginger.
  • Grease your pan. (I use a 10 inch Le Creuset Stoneware Pie Dish)
  • Pour your cake mixture into the pan and cook at 350* for 30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with powered sugar
  • Top with fresh cranberry sauce and ice cream. (Butter and powdered sugar are also good with this cake)

Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • Enough water to cover the cranberries around 2 1/2 cups

Directions

  • Add cranberries and water to your sauce pan
  • Make sure the water covers the cranberries but not too much.
  • Let the mixture come to a boil and then reduce the temperature (medium or medium-low)
  • Add seasoning and sugar
  • Simmer for about 3-5 minutes
  • Mash with potato masher
  • That’s it. That’s all you have to do. And this is way better than the can stuff. 🙂

Enjoy!

Have you ever been to Disney World? And if yes, what’s your favorite food item? Did you just say Dole Whip? 🙂

Our trip to Disney World's Liberty Tree Tavern had me wanting more Johnny Appleseed Bread Pudding, so of course I went to Pinterest to see how I could replicate what I was longer for. I found a few recipes but they all needed just a little more....

10 Holiday Cards that Aren’t Your Basic Holiday Cards

Day 4 of 12 Days of Blogmas {Cards}

It’s Day 4 of Blogmas and today’s prompt is Cards. I thought about doing a few DIY cards, but honestly time got the better of me. I would share our holiday cards, but ummm… I’m not there yet. Is it really (already) December? Well, it looks like I have my work cut out for me, I need to get moving on all things holiday.

Merry Blogmas! Day 2 Holiday Bucket List {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

So, since I’m such a slacker pants and I do not have any nifty DIY cards to share or our family holiday card, I’ve decided I’d bite the bullet for you and “research” Etsy. You’re welcome. Here are 10 holiday cards I don’t think you’d find anywhere else but Etsy. The sassier the card the better. 🙂

It's Day 4 of 12 Days of Blogmas!! The prompt for today is Cards, so I rounded up 10 Holiday Cards that aren't your basic holiday cards. :)

10 Holiday Cards That Aren’t Your Basic Holiday Cards

  2. Happy Challahdays! Keep the challah bread coming. 🙂
  3. Pugs and Kisses. Always Pugs and Kisses, for obvious reasons.
  4. Who doesn’t want Ryan showing up in their mailbox? Hey Girl!
  5. It’s Christmas sweater weather. Time to break out these bad boys.
  6. I’ll I want for Christmas is you. *If you’re holding a bunch of presents that are also for me. 😀
  7. Let’s Get Lit. Because who doesn’t love to light their menorah?  (The answer is everyone wants to light the menorah here. Yes, lighting the menorah here in my home can cause fights. 😀 #Momlife)
  8. Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Muggle. ⚡️? ⚡️
  9. Christmas is Coming. Oh wait, is that a regular basic Christmas card? NO! It’s a G.O.T Christmas card.
  10. BEST WRAPPER ALIVE. He may not be the best rapper (IMO), but he’s got mad wrapping skills. Also, this shop has pretty dope rapping paper.

Today is Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re sharing gift guides!! Hold up, did you catch Day 1 and 2Anyway, back to the gift guide. I put together a gift guide for EVERYONE. 🙂 I hope you enjoy.

day-3-blogmas

You get a gift, you get a gift…

Everyone gets a gift!!! 🙂

You get a gift, you get a gift, EVERYONE GETS A GIFT in this year's gift guide. :)

Ladies first…

For Her

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {For Her}

  • It’s not a secret, I’m totally in love with all of Shelly’s designs. She nailed it with this choker. Chokers are back!!! Happy 90’s running man dance. 🙂
  • STITCH FIX! I have had two “fixes” and I’m a fan. My fall fix was EVERYTHING. Check it out for youself here. Anyway, Stitch Fix has gift cards!!
  • Let it snow, let it snow, let it JON SNOW!! If your girl is a GoT lover this shirt SHOULD be in her closet. WINK WINK 😉
  • My girl Bev makes the most beautiful hammered sterling silver jewelry. I have a similar pair of earrings that she made and they get all sorts of love when I wear them.
  • Fitbits are cool, but sometimes you want to look a little fancy and that chunky plastic band isn’t cutting it. BUT this silver rose gold metal band does the trick. 🙂

For Him

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {For Him}

  • The NFL Ugly Sweater Socks  are the perfect pair of socks for your NFL loving man (or woman… I actually own a pair). My family has a thing for socks.

  • These Captain Morgan tall glasses are the coolest! They are handmade and awesome, need I say more?
  • My husband is obsessive about his Fitbit, and I know he would love the new Fitbit Blaze. I’m not sure if he’s getting it this year, but it’s on the list for sure.
  • Stitch Fix! What!?!? Yes, you read that right. Stitch Fix is for the fellas now, too.

For Kids

Day 3 of 12 Days of Blogmas: A Gift Guide For Everyone!! {kids}

  • LEGO bricks,  although painful to step on, are the perfect toys to have in the home. Kids can spend hours building and creating new things. They can use what’s that thing called…. their imagination! I love ’em. This super cute DIY LEGO Ornament  is perfect for the holidays.
  • My son loves fact books. He is my phone-a-friend. I’m quite sure this 5000Awesome Facts (About Everything) book would make the perfect addition to a fact lover’s collection.
  • It’s been a while since the last Diary of Wimpy Kid, so the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid #11 Double Down has been an anticipated new read kids will surely love. Who doesn’t love Greg Heffley?
  • ALEX Toys DIY Ceramic Mug Kit is the perfect gift for the kid who loves art and hot cocoa. eh hem… 🙂
  • HARRY. POTTER. Did you just read that with excitement or like Voldemort? However you read it, this Harry Potter Charm bracelet is too cute not to consider for the Harry Potter fan in your life.

For Teens

A Gift Guide for EVERYONE!! {For Teens}

  • Who wouldn’t love this Support Your Local Girl Gang tote to carry their books?
  • After I left high school I thought that was it, I’m done with that. Why would I ever need to hangout at a high school ever again? “Well, Dean, one day your babies grow up and even though you’re not ready for it, they do, so buck up.” Yup.  Since I’ve been at the high school quite a bit, a few things are evident: teens love phones and they love earphones. So yeah, iBeats by Dre are kind of a thing. Totally. I mean… literally. 😀
  • This Stranger Things sweatshirt is BRILLIANT! Will? Are you there?
  • This is the stage in kids’ lives where they would like to pick out things for themselves, so a gift card is perfect. Trust me, I asked a teen (and I was a teen). 😉
  • STICKERS! You never grow out of stickers especially when you can customize them yourself with StickerApp.

Holiday Bucket List 2016 {Day 2 of Blogmas}

Day 2 of 12 Days of Blogmas

It’s day 2 of 12 Days of Blogmas and we’re talking holiday bucket lists.  (Did you miss Day 1? If so you can catch up here.) You would think since I’m such a list maker that I would have a zillion bucket list posts, but no, I don’t. I even did a search on my blog, because surely I have bucket list post. I have 10 Things Posts, a spring goals post, and I even mention bucket lists, but no bucket list. So, here goes nothing… my very first bucket list post. 🙂

Merry Blogmas! Day 2 Holiday Bucket List {12 Days, 12 Blogs + 1 Huge Giveaway}

When the holidays roll around my family becomes a little tribe of holiday elves. The Christmas music is on full blast as we clean, cook, and play.

a-charlie-brown-christmas

My youngest daughter has to be a certified elf, she has so much holiday spirit in her little body that she has to be from the North Pole. 🙂 Well, that’s our little joke anyway…

For her birthday every year for the past few years her room becomes a winter wonderland and we keep it that way until we finally begrudgingly take down all the decor around the house.

My son may also be an elf. This past weekend he said the cutest thing to me: “Mama, I love Christmastime. I like Christmas day, but Christmastime is the best. Everyone is so happy, and there’s music, Christmas movies and cookies.” That pretty much melted my heart.

My Littles Christmas 2014| Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress.com

Holiday Bucket List

Anyway… you can imagine when I sat down with my tribe this weekend and asked them for our Holiday Bucket List they were all eager to give me ideas of what they wanted to do this holiday. Some things didn’t make the list, like Disney World. Sadly, that lotto ticket didn’t come through for us… womp womp!

bucket-list

  • Acts of kindness. We plan on doing a few or all of the 12 acts of kindness I shared yesterday.
  • Go see the Nutcracker. The kids haven’t seen The Nutcracker, so I think this is the year. 🙂
  • Go look at the lights. We look at lights often during the holidays, but there’s always one night where we make it a little more special with hot cocoa, blankets, jammies, and of course Christmas music.
  • Play Christmas Charades. The kids absolutely love this, we usually make some snack type food and play the night away.
  • Winter Fest. This one is new, we haven’t been to Winter Fest, but we look forward to checking it out this year.
  • DIY Ornaments. We make ornaments every year, it’s what we do.
  • Snowman Pizza Night. You guessed it, make pizzas in the shape of a snowman with snow sauce (alfredo sauce). You know there’s a Christmas movie involved here, right? 🙂
  • Latke Showdown. I don’t mean to brag, but this is my thing. I’ve won it every year since we started this showdown. I love latkes!!!
  • Make cookies/Gingerbread house. Every year we make cookies for family and friends. Gingerbread house making is just for us. 🙂

  • And of course watch all the Christmas movies!! We’ll probably watch The Elf about a thousand times, A Christmas Story is reserved for Christmas day, and my honey and I watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation alone just the two of us, it’s “our” thing. 🙂

So, what’s on your Holiday Bucket List?
