That's What She Said| Mary Poppins| In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. | Women's Words| Quote

Oh man! I kind of wrote about this here. And you know I’m trying to limit my repetitiveness… sort of.  So, this week I wrote a short story, it was kind of sad, and I decided to save it for another time. Instead, this post has been inspired by the spirit of Mary Poppins’ spunk to get shhhtuff done and The Office. My husband and I have started watching The Office from the beginning on Netflix (we were late Office watchers).

I have had to do some boring jobs in my life, so I learned to make the day pass I had to create the element of fun. It was the thing I did when I was younger, my younger brother and I would try to beat the clock to finish our chores, so we could play. I would setup a timer and we would hum William Tell Overture.

When I had my first job as a “opinion researcher” 😉 I would call people and use different voices. If you sound British people want to talk to you. Thanks for helping me make quota Anglophiles. 🙂

The Office UK

Thankfully, I have worked in places where I made friends or had friends to goof around with. I mean we worked, but we made the best of it. Also, having friends while being a young mother at home with kid(s) was super helpful. You need laughter. Good friends= laughter!

Music has always been a source of happiness for me; when I was a waitress I learned to love Dave Matthews Band while working with the owner’s son’s friend that was home from college.

I worked at a desk once where I wrote a story for my co-workers.

I realize, I have come full circle. The fun little games I would create for my younger brother and I to get motivated to finish our chores, I’m now doing with my kids. 🙂    What do you do to make work fun? Show us yours

Announcement: There will not be a link-up next week, we won’t be back until August 3rd. When we get back we cannot wait to see the quotes everyone will share!

Keep writing!! XO

We are soul sisters!! Any guesses what show Matt and I are re-watching?? Oh, ya know, The Office. This may or may not be our third time watching the series and it’s hilarious each and every time. The Dwight and Jim pranks are without a doubt my favorite.

I also am a fan of “beating the clock.” Still to this day! If I know I have 30 minutes to get a project done while the boys sleep, I quickly try to beat the clock in an attempt to maybe be able to sit down for 2 minutes 😉

I cannot wait to see what quote you pick for our link up in two weeks!!

    XO my friend!

Yes we are! 🙂 I love that you and Matt are re-watching The Office too. We want to watch the UK version when we’re done watching this one. I totally agree Dwight & Jim’s banter make the show.

We used the beat the clock method today. I gave the kids a time shoot for and afterwards the rest of the day was fun, fun, fun. 🙂 Now, they’re all busy doing their own thing.
I have no idea what quote I’ll pick… maybe something sappy! 😉

I haven’t even watched an episode of The Office yet! I mean to since I fell in love with Kaling after reading her book. And yes, full circle, so great isn’t it??? It’s amazing how the kids LIGHT UP when you make something a game. My son’s whole demeanor changes!

Netflix has them all 🙂 Mindy plays a talkative prissy boy crazy gal, a little bit like her character on The Mindy Project, which I think is her, at her core.
      Kids love a game or dare I say… a little competition. 🙂

Ah, that William Tell Overture story made me adore you even more.
You have a great attitude and I haven’t always been able to find ways to .. do things. It’s bad. But when I do, you can bet I have to get creative!

HAHA! Doesn’t everyone hum William Tell Overture while cleaning? 🙂
I’m sure you have a fun creative approach to getting things done.

Crash Into Me is my FAVE DMB song of all time. Oh, the memories. 🙂

I really love that you remember to have fun. I think we could all benefit from more fun in our lives. Everything doesn’t have to be so serious all the time!! 🙂 Big hugs.

These gifs are so funny, and I love that you used to fake a British accent for work calls!

        We should probably implement this…
Currently, we do not send out an email. When we do set one up, I will let you know. That’s something to consider on our 2 week hiatus. 🙂

I worked a junior high school for a little over a year and it was fun. Kids are super hilarious and sweet. I think before working a school I was on the fence about becoming a mom for many reasons, but once I started and fell in love with my students I knew motherhood was something I wanted to experience. I’m forever grateful for that experience.

I was a substitute teacher and I couldn’t agree more, working with kids is rewarding they have the sweetest hearts. I was shocked that sometimes the teachers would be snotty to me, they assumed I was a student. I was always having to show my badge 😀

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the office…so sad it’s over but it ended where it needed to… Hubby bought all the DVDS so we can watch whenever we want.

If you can’t have fun and laugh, you will be so darn bored….

Rewatching the series has been great, we laugh so hard every night.
Yes, you totally need laughter. 🙂

Haha, I’m just imagining you speaking in different accents to random people on the phone! Good to know British accents get people to talk 😉
The William Tell Overture is definitely a great way to encourage you to work fast. I like finding little ways to make tedious things more fun. At my last job when I was the only one in the office and folding newsletters I watched a movie. Definitely made the process much more enjoyable!

Haha, doing my various voices was fun. British accents totally get things done.
I watch movies sometimes when I’m on my rower 🙂 it totally helps make the time go by faster.
