This January I jumped on the Currently bandwagon, I almost forgot to catch it this month! March has totally felt like one big blur!! So, here’s what I’ve been up to this March.. Currently.
Currently…
Listening: If you have been around long enough you know I LOVE MUSIC. I listen to iTunes Radio almost everyday but today I have YouTube playing old school club music for me. My daughter (the 9yo) was singing “It’s a fine day people open windows…” which made me pull up this song on YouTube:
But this Electronica mix just came on, the song by Alice DeeJay, Better Off Alone, reminds me of good times with my girls Shell & Sylvia.
Reading: So, I have a confession… remember how I told you I started this book, I did, but I stopped. I did not stop because I did not like the book I stopped because my husband and I agreed we would read the book together and work on DYING EMPTY together. However, eh hem, somebody is still waiting on somebody.
Last weekend I read Wonder for Page Turners. You can read my thoughts here and here. But I’ll tell you here… I LOVED THIS BOOK! The book, Wonder, was sweet.
If you should ever walkaway with any knowledge of me, know that kindness truly matters to me. My heart is on my sleeve, I care and love people even if they don’t love me back. I appreciated this book for exemplifying kindness to kids. I’m glad both of my girls have read this book, I hope they will hold the lesson in their hearts FOREVER. Kindness matters. People Matter.
I’m still reading this book with the my students (my son and daughter). Last month we read Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, we’re keeping with Dahl. We’re also reading crazy amounts of poetry books to help with our poetry lesson.
I got pretty ambitious at the library Friday and picked up these books my friends suggested. I know I’m behind with Yes Please it’s so last year. BUT I’m loving it!! I don’t know why I waited this long to read it. Let’s hope I can find time to finish Yes Please, because I really want to read my other picks. I’m not a book juggler. :-/
Creating: Each week I have enjoyed creating cards and love notes for people in my life. I have also enjoyed partaking in art class with the kiddos. I have another installment of love letters going out soon. 🙂
Feeling: Good. My throat and eyes are a little itchy but that isn’t going to stop me! It’s SPRING BREAK!
Thinking: How the hell did I let my coffee get cold!?! Also: “I need to hurry up the kids are waiting on me.” and “I need to work on #TWSS when I get home.”
Encouraging: <-That’s one of the words I’m focusing on this year. I think I have been doing good at it but I don’t want to toot my own horn.
I encourage you to check out this post on Kindness
Or this post about a girl who has pulled herself up despite tough times..
And there’s this one where I get all sentimental about blogging..
And if that’s not enough you can always take a gander here, there’s something for everyone here 🙂
I encourage you to join Courtney and I this Thursday for That’s What She Said. Here is this week’s quote:
But most importantly… I encourage you to love. Go out into the world and love big! Shake the haters off, and love SO hard the haters want to love like you.
XOXO

March 31, 2015 at 2:09 pmThank you so much for the mention : ) I did love Amy Poehler’s book! I love all of the wonderful crafts and projects you do with your kids. It’s so wonderful to support their creativity! I’m still so annoyed at myself that I forgot about the Twitter chat! I was literally doing nothing besides just folding laundry on Sunday night! It’s sad that I have to set a reminder on my phone to remember things lately.

April 1, 2015 at 7:52 amYou’re welcome, Karen. 🙂
I’m loving the book! The apology chapter ::gulp::
Letting the kids be creative is tremendously important to me. Yesterday, I was looking up improv classes for my girls. 😀 Those two are comedians, I have no idea where they get it 😉 .
Aww.. it’s okay! You were missed, but we have many more to come. I have to set alarms for things too. :-/

March 31, 2015 at 3:02 pmI love how you’ve embraced sending love letters! I haven’t read Yes Please yet, and I feel so behind. I must read it soon 🙂

April 1, 2015 at 7:57 amSending these notes/ love letters, has made my heart happy. The smile on my face is just as big as the recipient. I think people are surprised by receiving good mail in general.
Yes Pleas is really good thus far.

March 31, 2015 at 3:52 pmI put that song first song on and now I’m totally rocking out! Brings me back 😉
I loved Roald Dahl books growing up, and I’m behind on Die Empty because I started reading a Jodie Picoult book that I Can’t. Put. Down!
MrsA0K2001
April 1, 2015 at 8:03 amYES!! I’m glad you were jamming out 🙂 . #GoodTimes
My babies love Roald Dahl.
What book are you reading? And what is your favorite Jodi Picoult book?

April 2, 2015 at 10:26 amI just finished it! It’s The Storyteller, it’s about the Holocaust (though some takes place in the present). Oh, I’m not sure what my favorite one is. This definitely ranks up there!
MrsA0K2001
April 2, 2015 at 3:42 pmI just added The Storyteller to my growing list. 🙂

March 31, 2015 at 10:03 pmHey girl! Thanks for mentioning our book club and linking my post and Shelly’s!!! So great you read it as a family, though someone is still waiting on someone ;). I want to read Yes Please so I can’t wait to hear what you think! Seems like you have a lot to be grateful for, which is so nice considering lots of people take what they have for granted.
MrsA0K2001
April 1, 2015 at 8:09 amYou’re welcome, Lisa. 🙂
I’m still waiting.. I think I’ll by him his own copy & sit him down for a few hours. We have a workbook ti fill out.
So far I have only good things to say about Yes Please 🙂
I try to keep this heart of mine grateful 24/7. Life is good.
XOXO

April 1, 2015 at 11:24 amYou are awesome you know that?
I really enjoy reading your post, you are geniune that’s for sure and I can tell you put a lot of time and heart into these posts. 🙂
I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve too but that’s okay no one will ever kill my sunny disposition, unless I’m stuck in traffic ;).
Happy hump day lady! Hope you’re feeling better!
MrsA0K2001
April 1, 2015 at 3:32 pmAwww CORINA!!! You’re totally making me blush. Thank you for your sweet words. ::HUGS::
I have to be honest, this post was actually thrown together super fast. I almost forgot to do a Currently post for March, thankfully the kids let me have a little time yesterday to pull this together. 🙂
I agree we cannot let the haters get us down… traffic ::blows breath:: that on the other hand I’m working on.
Happy Hump Day!!

April 1, 2015 at 5:48 pmWoah! Where did March go?! I wanted to jump in on Lisa’s book club, too, but I have no time. Womp, womp. Your posts scream happiness and positivity, family and love. Keep doing what you’re doing!! Hope you have an awesome spring break!!!
MrsA0K2001
April 2, 2015 at 2:33 pmRight!?! March just went twirling by Gone With the Wind fabulous!
I totally understand, I had to make myself sit still the other weekend, so I could start and finish Wonder in time for the chat. 🙂 I think I have to tap out for this month’s book.
Thank you, for that Gracielle! That means a lot to me that you think my blog is happiness, positivity, family, and love- those things are all important to me.
XOXO

April 1, 2015 at 10:59 pmOmg don’t tell me you love electronica/trance/dubstep, too?! lol No one I know will put up with me listening to my beloved Klaypex, so I always have my earbuds in 🙂 Every time I stop by your blog, I’m reminded that I need to devote a bit of time to reading a good book. I feel like I’ll really enjoy your recommendations. Why is it so hard for me to sit down and read, but so easy to turn on a TV show? Maybe the books force me to sit in the silence and think a little HAHA aww I love Roald Dahl and I definitely come away from our interactions knowing that you truly care about the people you come across 🙂 ♥ I don’t think I knew that you homeschool and it’s a 2015 goal of mine to craft more because it’s so fun and therapeutic for me. I’ve been popping my allergy pills, trying to get my blogging act together and I’ve been enjoying all of your posts –you are doing a great job of encouraging me, for sure! ♥
MrsA0K2001
April 2, 2015 at 2:59 pmI love it all! Thankfully, my family does too. 🙂
I’m glad you’re liking my book choices, I hope you will find some time to check them out. Wonder isn’t too long, but it has a lot of heart.
You and ME both! I have no problem switching on the TV, it’s much easier to fold laundry and watch TV. 🙂 If I watch TV I still have to do something. I think that’s my problem I always have to be doing something… right now is a perfect example. 😀
🙂 You made me smile, thank you. I do care. Promise.
I started homeschooling this November.
Creating was on my list this year too. Crafting, writing, painting, journaling, those things are all so therapeutic. Have you been sticking to your goal?
This pollen down here is SERIOUS! Yellow streets + yellow cars= itchy throat me. 🙁
Thanks again, Lexi!!
XOXO

April 1, 2015 at 11:47 pmYay, another ‘Wonder’ fan! I was so excited when Lisa picked that for her book club because I had read it a few months ago and of course shared my views on her blog. Love your photos (especially that stack of books) and the kids working on their cards 🙂
MrsA0K2001
April 2, 2015 at 3:28 pmWonder, really was such a wonderful book. 🙂
My daughter (the 13yo) read it years ago and had it signed. She met the author of the book and started a Wonder pledge at her school. We had talked about the book then, but I only had read some of it. Lisa and Shelly’s book club was the much needed push to read the book for real. I’m glad I did because I was able to talk to both of my daughters about it.
Thank you! I’m happy you stopped by, Nina.
XOXO

April 2, 2015 at 8:27 pmI miss reading. I’ve been so busy with classes, work and other life responsibilities that I haven’t had time to sit back and read a good book. This summer I will dive in and get lost in a great story. xoxo

April 3, 2015 at 2:36 pmWell this was a ray of sunshine. It really radiates off of you – the importance of kindness in your life and wearing your heart on your sleeve.
I’m currently reading a book called “Everything I Never Told You.” It’s slightly slow to start but only because I’m so busy.
MrsA0K2001
April 6, 2015 at 9:52 amThank you AND THANK YOU! 🙂 The same can be said for you, sweet lady. 🙂
I think I heard of that book via Lisa from Expandng.

April 14, 2015 at 9:49 amGood times, right!?! It’s funny how music can take you back to an era that feels so long ago but not… anyway… I’m glad you enjoyed the music. 🙂
