Hey, It’s Okay and Goals

Posted on
I’m joining Amber of Airing My Laundry for her weekly linkup Hey, It’s Okay. Hey, it’s okay that I love reading Amber’s Hey, It’s Okay list each week. 🙂

Hey, it’s okay….

that I tried to wear white pants today. “Tried” because in true Dean form I spilled coffee on them, so I guess you can say the jeans were blessed. 🙂

that some mornings are crappy. What’s not okay is that some mornings are filled with hate. I’m certainly not okay with waking up to hate. I wish it would all stop.

that I cleaned my house like there was an inspection looming. When I was younger my dad use to pull inspection on us- I grew up a military brat.

that I’m crazy in love with my husband. He’s my rock, guys! He made my afternoon.

that I’m D O N E with all the school papers. The house is clean, I don’t want anymore clutter. And, yes, I do keep some of the kids’ work but not all of it.

that I’m already looking forward to Friday.

that there are 20 other tabs open in my brain right now, which is causing me to go blank here. Shut up, TABS!

that I wrote this yesterday and never posted. Hey, It’s Okay Tuesday on a Wednesday… again.

that this post is a twofer.

that I’m annoyed when people type “goals” in the comments of celebrities’ pictures, but not because they’re doing anything meaningful or productive. (And if I see “Bae Goals” I want to throw up or pull my hair out, but hair goals. 😀 ) How about graduate from college goals, be kind to other people goals, or how about good parenting goals, being the best person in society goals; Kim Kardashian should not be your goal. Sorry, I just got all grouchy lady next door on you…

Speaking of goals, how about Spring Goals? The lovely, kind, and tell-it-like-it-is Stephanie of Life According to Steph has a seasonal linkup that I had to join! Because GOALS 😀 If someone typed “goals” under some of Stephanie’s IG pictures I could understand, because she actually does something, she doesn’t just talk she walks the walk for others. “Good person goals” “Tell it like it is goals” “Pug life goals” 😀

Let’s get to my goals…

Join a group. I’ve been thinking of joining a writing group, I joined one in Illinois, but never went to any meetings. I’m actually still on their email list. :-/ I’m open to joining any type of creative group. 🙂

Submit my writing. I’ve been the worst at submitting my writing. I get in my own head. My thoughts: This isn’t good enough. Does anyone really want to read this?  It’s sad, I know. This winter I did a roundup of old posts and I’ve got to say… I wrote some pretty darn good posts. Why am I my own worst critic sometimes!?!?!
Garden. We haven’t had our own garden since we lived in Illinois, I think with the room we have in the backyard we can possibly plant some veggies in pots around the yard. Side note: Umm.. why did these kids grow up SO FAST!?!?!

Lastly, I seriously have hair goals! 😀 My goal is to do something with my hair and stop talking about doing something with my hair. Should I cut my hair super short, ladies? Here’s something I’m afraid of: regret. I don’t want to cut my hair off and have summertime sadness when I see ladies with long pretty hair in swimsuits and sun dresses. Sometimes I love my hair, but sometimes I’m done wearing a bun or topknot.

So, what’s up with you? What are your goals? What are you okay with this week? And seriously, help a sister out. Please. 🙂

At my sister’s college graduation I spilled coffee all over my white skirt just as we picked her up. She was less than thrilled.
I want to be a tourist in Boston with Eve. I think she would love Quincy Market in the summer time with the performers and eat clam chowdah (’cause that’s how we say it here in Beantown) from a bread bowl. And I want to be a tourist in Seattle too! It’s high up on my bucket list of places to visit.

Oh no! It took me years to attempt to wear white pants again. In elementary school I was playing Red Rover and when I came flying over I got clotheslined- boom right into the dirt! My pants were no longer white but a nice dusty brown with grass stains, I vowed that day never to wear white pants again. However, about 3 years ago I saw a blog post about white pants and I thought I’d give white pants another try, but somehow the pants landed in the back of the closet. That is… until I read another blog post about white pants! 😀 See, brands, bloggers DO have influence. 😀
I think you and Eve should totally be tourists in Boston! And ummm can you please take a picture of that chowdah!! YUM!
I would love for you to be a tourist here. 🙂

Great goals. I have hair goals too. But I want to grow my hair out. I cut it off over a year ago and now I miss having a full head of hair. I basically only have hair at the top and have worn in shaved down on the sides and in the back.

I don’t want to miss my hair while it grows out, but I know eventually it will grow back. However, if I don’t do anything fun with my hair now, I don’t want to regret that later. We’re young, it’s cool to chop off our locks, right?

I haven’t worn white pants since 1992! I spilled orange juice all over them in the school cafeteria. Oops!

Hey, it’s ok that I’m coloring my hair tomorrow. I’m so nervous because I’ve never done it in my life but I need something fresh for spring and it’s like four faded colors right now. Yes, even naturally. It’s so long, it lightens at the ends. And it’s blonde and gray underneath too. Fun! (not really)

It took me a long time to wear white pants again, from elementary school until about 3 years ago. I was clotheslined during a game of Red Rover and ruined my pretty white pants and all hopes of a white pants future. Well, that was until I read a blog post on white pants that changed my mind. 🙂 AND NOW THIS. 😀

Oh la la!! I cannot wait to see the new color!! My daughter’s (10 yo) hair is the same way it’s super light at the bottom and darker on top. 🙂 My hair is no longer the same color it once was, I don’t think I’ll ever get that back. 🙁 My eldest daughter has it though, well, her’s is a bit lighter, but close to what my hair was when I was younger.

It’s so easy to be your own worst critic. You should definitely submit your work!
Also, I get the hair debate. Now that my hair is longer, it’s only in a ponytail or bun. I don’t take time to style it, but when I had a pixie cut it was too short to do anything with…

Thank you, Ashley, I think I will do it! 🙂

That’s where I’m at, I feel like I’m in a blah stage with my hair. I get lazy and always throw it up on top of my head, which surprisingly my husband really likes. He thinks I take time to do my hair so nice. 😀 😀 My daughter is the one who reminded me that if my hair is short I won’t be able to do anything COOL with my hair. But… to be honest I’m not sure I do anything too cool now…

First, thank you so much for the kind words. You rock!

I say go for it. Submit your work. The worst that can happen? Nothing. But nothing is what’s happening anyway by not submitting it. Right?

I am the WORST with my hair. I never do anything with it. ever.

Gosh!! Why do you make so much darn sense, woman!! I’m on it. 🙂
I use to always do something fun and different with my hair, but over the last few years I haven’t done anything too big. I think it’s time for some change..

I never know what to do with my hair. It’s thick and annoying.

I also grew up as a military brat. I have a blog post about that coming up next week!

    I’m excited for Friday too!

THANK YOU!!! It kills me when I see “Goals” under those type of post. Hopefully you can find the courage and inspiration you need to be active in a writing community!

I only have 3 goals this spring, but they each require smaller steps in order to be accomplished.
    1- Create a blogging schedule
    2- Grow social media audience
    3- Build relationships

I love your goals! These goals are certainly attainable. You can do it!
The blogging schedule shouldn’t be too hard, and if you stray away from it from time to time that’s okay. 🙂 I do. I try to post at least three times a week. This is the first year I’m using a planner for my blog.
Goal two and three work together. Social media is a wonderful way to “meet” like-minded people and other bloggers and create real relationships. I am so thankful for all the relationships blogging and social media has brought me.
Thanks for stopping by and cheers to getting things done!

I love this post! I completely agree about people putting ‘goals’ under celebrities doing nothing but maybe posting a selfie.. (with the exemption of hair goals) haha but our spring break just ended, and I managed to accomplish a lot of my cleaning goals! 🙂

      Thank you, Kristy. 🙂
I hope you and the babies had a fun spring break. I aspire to accomplish some cleaning goals this spring break too. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping in!
