Food, holiday

The AOK Independence Day.

Posted on

This year, my family & I had another perfect Independence day.  The kids made patriotic Lego displays to use as decorations around the house; they did a great job!
We went to the annual 4th of July Car Show in our neighborhood, which is growing every year.  The car show had plenty of my favorite types of rides— SS Chevy Chevelles!

I believe you call that a photobomb!
Besides the car show, we grilled, and hung-out with our neighbors.
Every year our neighbor creates an elaborate fireworks show for our cul-de-sac.
Some people do Christmas big, our neighbors do Independence Day big!
I tried to take some pictures of the fireworks, but it’s hard to do so.
We decided to make lemonade again for the fireworks show.
Last year the lemonade was a big hit so we tried a new spin on an old classic.
To make things easier, we used Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade and some add-ins.
During the summer months we usually stock-up on Santa Cruz Lemonade. Whole Foods, will frequently run a great sale on Santa Cruz Lemonades, plus if you buy a case at Whole Foods you get 10% off.
This year with my yummy GMO-free, Organic Santa Cruz Lemonade, we made Berry Lemonade & Watermelon Lemonade.
We used half of a Santa Cruz Lemonade, a little less than half of Santa Cruz Strawberry Lemonade, and about half a bag of frozen mixed berries.
We made the Berry Lemonade ahead of time, therefore all the berry flavor would enhance the lemonade.
The flavors marry together nicely! Who am I kidding… this berry lemonade was on point!!
Also on point and did not last long was the Watermelon Lemonade!

Again we used the Santa Cruz Lemonade and pureed about 2-3 cups of watermelon and mixed together.  We also made watermelon ice cubes with the left over puree.
The lemonades were a hit!
I’m sure you could make these more “adult” if you’d like….
I am a sucker for a good lemonade, are you too?
I hope you all had a safe & fun holiday weekend!
My weekend was truly great, I soaked up all the family time I had with my loves.
XO
