Have you ever had extended writer’s block? How long did it last? What did you do to break out of it, and do you have tips for other bloggers?
Yes! Haven’t we all suffered a small case of what-the-heck-nothing-is-coming-out-of-this-pen, although there’s a million things running through your head? Sadly, this has happened far too many times, but thankfully, I pull myself out of the funk.
Here are few things I do to pull myself out of the writer’s block funk:
- Walk away, sometimes you just need a little breather.
- READ A BOOK. Reading a book helps me to become inspired, as well as I’m able to just get lost in another world 🙂
- Live life. Let life inspire you.
- Go outside. There’s something calming about the great outdoors. Sitting on the beach is one of the most calming luxuries I’m thankful for.
- Get caffeinated. A nice cuppa joe does wonders! Hemingway, said, “Write drunk, edit sober.” Since, coffee is my vice, I’m quite sure Hemingway would approve.
- Just write. Writing helps me… I know that sounds weird, but it’s true.
What do you do to shake off the writer’s block funk?

November 13, 2014 at 10:36 amIf I’m in a funk I love to go outside and get some fresh air. Sometimes I actually stay online and browse through Pinterest for inspiration. You know I love to read! I flip through magazines, I’m always inspired by those. You’re right though, sometimes you just have to walk away and live.

November 13, 2014 at 2:40 pmLoved these tips! And I love Hemingway’s tip, and I actually do write way better when I’m buzzed LOL. But caffeine is always great too. And yes, if I just force myself to write, even when I can’t think of anything to write, I will ALWAYS come up with something to write about eventually.

Now, I want to know which posts were written buzzed 🙂
And yes, I think if you just sit down to write something, it will come. Perhaps, it’s not what you were working on, but something will come. In if all else fails go live life 😉

November 13, 2014 at 4:46 pmI have had times where I cannot think of what to shoot. I now have a big bucket of ideas next to my desk. When ever I need inspiration, I keep pulling out the papers until I find something that will inspire me.

November 13, 2014 at 5:01 pmWhen I went to BlogU, one of the top writing tips was to just walk away. Clear your head and get space. That’s really my only trick for writer’s block. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, I know it will.
Mind you, this is after 4.5 years of blogging. For the first 3.5, I’m certain I was scared every time that I’d never have anything to say ever again.

November 15, 2014 at 12:10 pmYou are a word master. I imagine words just flow for you, and getting up to walk away in that beautiful landscape you call home… that’s plenty inspiring.

November 13, 2014 at 8:45 pmMusic! There’s nothing more inspiring for me than a great song. Oh and if I could write in my shower I’d have some masterpieces. My brilliant ideas come at the most inconvenient time. XOXO

November 15, 2014 at 9:34 amME TOO!! Some of my best works have come to me in the shower, it’s never as good when I try to remember it at the computer.
One time I ran out of the shower soaked water dripping everywhere and started writing. My husband looked at me with a puzzled look, I told him I didn’t want to lose it. 🙂 He probably thought haven’t you already 😀
