Currently August 2016: Here's what I'm currently up to this August.

So, we purchased Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the day it came out. My oldest daughter finished it the next day. I decided I would read it with all the kids, we have “school” on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I thought we’d save one of those days for reading together. That worked well for about 3 days, but they wanted to read on their own. I totally understand. So this is what I’m currently reading on my own, I’m almost done.

My family and I were all into the Olympics this year. Did you watch?

Voice fans? Are there any voice fans? I’m excited for the next season of The Voice, I don’t know why I watched that little preview they gave us on Sunday… TEASE.

Our one year anniversary of living in Washington. I cannot believe it’s already been one year! Do you remember the craziness it took for us to get here? And thankfully we made it. It’s been quite a ride.

  1. I love this post!
I want to start Game of Thrones with my hubby. I watched the first or second episode and it was so freakin nuts I had to stop at that time. I wasn’t in the right head space to watch it. I think I am ready now. lol

    1. You and your hubby. πŸ™‚
For a long time I wasn’t all about GoT. It took some heavy convincing to get me to watch, but boy am I glad I did! It’s SO GOOD!!
I totally watch with my hands covering my eyes durning some parts, because YIKES those scenes look too real.
Let me know if y’all watch. πŸ™‚

  2. So much has been going on in August. I can’t believe school starts for us next week. Love that you shared “A Separate Peace.” Its one of my favorite books from high school. πŸ™‚

    1. I’m not ready for school to start. WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO?
I hate to admit this, but this will be my first time reading A Separate Peace. The Great Gatsby was my favorite in high school. πŸ™‚

  3. I can’t believe it’s already been a year!! It’s scary sometimes how quickly time goes by.
Glad you’re making it out of the riptide πŸ™‚
I still have to read the Harry Potter book!

    1. Me either. And yes, totally scary!
I have the best friends to help pull me out. πŸ™‚

  4. This has been a fun August for you. I have read so much this month! September will be cruel in terms of work but I will have read some good books to carry me through!

    1. July and August always seem so busy for me; with birthdays, celebrations, and kids it gets busy, which also means it feels too short. πŸ™
I didn’t read as much as I would have liked to this summer, even with 5 billion library visits this summer, it wasn’t enough.
Wishing you a lovely September with tons of happy books!!

    1. I can’t believe it’s almost over either. This summer flew by. And as much as I wanted to stay, I am kind of… okay I’m excited for fall. πŸ™‚
August has been pretty good to me, I hope it has been good to you too, Amber. πŸ™‚
Which one Harry Potter and The Cursed Child or A Separate Peace?
You have to let me know if you do pick ’em up and if you liked or didn’t like. πŸ™‚

  5. I am laughing at the cartoon about being a better blogger because that is literally me. I am up late on a Friday night working hard so I can get ready for this press trip tomorrow. It is 2:30am #Bloglife

    1. #BlogLife fo’sho! πŸ˜€
I don’t even know if people truly understand or appreciate our hustle! It’s crazy.
Have fun on your press trip!

  6. Beautiful post! So much creativity and love for life in one family! My girls are big into art and water color painting to music before bed is our new night time routine.

    1. Thank you, Roxanne. πŸ™‚
That sounds like an AWESOME nighttime routine!! I love it!!
Keep those babies creating and make sure you get in on the action too, mama. πŸ™‚

    1. They are really good books that are superbly written, but I get it, they’re not everyone’s cup of tea.
I agree, reading is so important. I’m happy to say I’m raising a small gang of voracious readers. πŸ™‚
      Have a lovely week!

  7. What a great month you had! I love the “LOVE” photo spelled with your hands. So creative! My August included a visit to family in Ohio and then back into the classroom! School is back in session and I got to meet my 72 new sixth graders.

    1. THANK YOU, STACEY! πŸ™‚
My husband’s from Ohio. πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoyed your trip.
Wishing you the best school year ever! Thank you for educating our future. <3

  8. I finished reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in like 3 hours!! It was not as good as the original series but it did fill my HP sized void for a bit. Congratulations on your anniversary. Y’all are so cute!
That is one fun-filled, memory packed August you had there.

    1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was SO GOOOD!
It was a bit different from the original series, I kept telling myself because they’re adults now calm down. πŸ˜€ Malfoy.
There were parts that you’d read and remember J.K didn’t work alone.
Despite that I enjoyed the book immensely.

And thank you for you sweet comment. πŸ™‚

  9. August is always so time consuming for us wih the back to school preparations! I definitely plan to add the new Happy Potter book to our fall collection.

    1. I have a week to cram all the back to school preparations in!!! I totally slacked this year.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a must have fall read, for sure. πŸ™‚

    1. Now that I’m all caught up, I’m sure I’ll say the same.
I never thought I’d become a super fan of this show!!!

  10. Yay for battling the riptide. That’s huge! The hugest!
I bought the new Harry Potter but I haven’t read it yet. I cannot wait.
I totally remember your debacle a year ago and how has it been a year??
I love your love with your husband! I’m barely speaking to mine right now so that seems enviable.

    1. πŸ™‚ We’re fighters, you and I, let’s keep battling forever.
It’s SO GOOD! Have you started yet?
Yes. I cannot believe it either.
I know that had to be short lived, you two are awesome together. Lovely Lovers. πŸ™‚

  11. I’ve never Harry Potter, but I bought the book for my husband since he is a big fan. Happy Anniversary! I usually watch the blind auditions to the Voice, but after that I stop. I just don’t like how they drag it out so much to get to the actual live show πŸ™

  12. Currently reading a series that has been sitting on my shelf for way to long and silently excited inside that two of my three kids will be making their way out of the house some of the week when school starts next week. This mama needs some sanity back.

  13. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. It does seem like it was that long ago when I was reading about your cross country move.
I struggle with creative time vs. blogging time. I really enjoy sewing so I’ve been using lot of my blogging time for sewing.
Thank you so much for the Fancy Nancy books!!! You guys are so kind.

  14. Voice fan here, and yes that was such a teaser! I’m looking forward to the new season because each year it gets better and better! You guys survived one year in Washington, yay! I hope the 2nd year is just as great! The Olympics were great and we had 2 people from the lowcountry representing for us. One came in 5th in the world in shot put…Raven…they had a parade for her downtown and celebrated her return… Yay Charleston! πŸ™‚

  15. love these photos and memories! looks like August was a very good month to you! Can’t wait for fall — bring on the pumpkin farms and apple cider! YUM!
