This week’s quote:

TWSS: Rosa Parks- Never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right!

What have you been doing right lately?

Well besides…

Okay, okay, I won’t leave you with just that.

You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right- Rosa Parks

Why is it SO hard for me to pat myself on the back? {TWSS}  I have started this post over three times.  I know I am not the only one like this, there are plenty of women out there who do good all day everyday,  yet when it comes to patting themselves on the back, they just won’t.  Why?  We’ve done good!  We should share it, right?  Perhaps, it’s because we’re fearful of the reaction others will have.  Sometimes people are quick to judge and love to read into things. She’s gloating, she thinks she’s all that, etc. etc.

But that sucks! Why should we give to ****s what they think?!? So here’s what I’m going to do about it, I’m going to list all the things I’m doing right in my life, besides my husband. 😉

*Loving.  I’m loving my life, my husband, and my babies right. I am in no way fearful of that nor am I afraid to admit that.

* Compassion.  I lead with my heart, if I see a person in need I will not hesitate to lend a hand.  I believe doing acts for others is healing.  Our world needs healing. Our children need to see healing and compassion.  I’m trying to teach my children compassion by displaying it.

* Mothering. I know I’m a damn good Mama.  Although I know this I still have fear. I hate that.  I want to say I have no fear when it comes to my mothering skills, but who doesn’t have fear when it comes to raising children?

* I’m working my ass off in the gym.  I was fearful of Crossfit, but I’m proud to say I have done things I thought I would never be able to do. BAM!

* Blogging.  I may not be 100% right when it comes to blogging, but it feels right to me.  I have become less fearful when it comes to blogging, and with that I feel another layer of my anxiety is lifted.

* I am not the most organized teacher, but I am really good at teaching.  The kids are excited, I’m excited.  We have fun while they learn.

*Cooking bomb-ass meals.  That’s right I said it, I can cook. No boxes, real food, real good.

Okay, I don’t want to get too cocky, I will stop my list here. That felt good. Thanks for letting me do that.

What have you been doing right lately?

Show us yours

Acknowledging what you’re doing right seems a little bit like gratitude to me — if you can’t list what you’re thankful for, or what you’re good at, you’ll never feel the happiness that all your efforts are intended to bring.

Love the lip gloss quote btw! (and all things Mindy K.) I’m pretty sure that applies to every public meeting I attend as an attorney. =)

Thanks, Sarah! I like that, I need to remember this.

I love all things Mindy too. I agree her quote has to resonate with you. Ahem.. if you feel inclined to write about it… we go live on Thursdays. 🙂

I think you should be damn proud of everything you do! I wish we were all more comfortable sharing the amazing things we do every day. I don’t have a doubt in my mind that you really rock all of those things you listed, and then some. I’d say I’ve been doing the mothering thing right, not to mention product photography 😉

🙂 Thank you, Bev! I am very proud, I know I’m doing good, but sometimes I have the toughest time tooting my own horn.
I think you’ve got this mothering thing right and ummm… you make me want to buy-up your shop, so you’ve got that for sure.
      XOXO

Words cannot say just how much I love this! I think this, this listing of things you are doing right is SO important for women. It is hard to share all the things we are rockin’ but this is such a simple way. And girl you are doing so much right!!! Also can we please live closer, I use to be a cooker of bomb ass meals, but I am lucky to even be a cooker these days. If you were my next door neighbor the W’s could just come to your house for dinner. I would supply the cocktails!

I’m glad you love this, because as you know I didn’t know if this made sense. 😀
“Write drunk; edit sober.” But what if you don’t wake up in time to edit. 😀 😀 😀
Yes, we need to live closer for Dean’s bomb-ass cooking, Courtney’s cocktails, bearded men, and oodles of kiddos. Sounds like a fun time to me.

Good for you lady, you should totally be bragging! I think it’s wonderful that you are teaching your kids at home. I really don’t think I would make the best teacher and keep things interesting. I guess I would say I’m keeping up with blog things pretty well lately. However I think I must be doing something wrong on the potty training front with my daughter because it is just not happening!!

      1) Thank you!
      2) Thank you again. Teaching my babies is so rewarding to me. You, not interesting, are you kidding me? This is the humbleness I speak of.
      3) You’re doing a fabulous job with your blogging! I’m a fan.
      4) No, you’re not doing anything wrong. Everyone comes around in due time. I know some people are anti-rewards or whatever, but I had stickers and a bucket of chocolates. 😀

Giiiiiiiirl, I say you back yourself on the back all you want! No hatin’ from me and better be no hatin’ from your readers!!!! People need to stop playing the “woe is me” and “I have it harder” game. I’m impressed you do the CrossFit so diligently and yay for being a great teacher. Teachers are awesome. You are awesome. Keep doing the good work!

That quote from Rosa Parks is inspiring! Love your list about the things you are doing right. I sometimes have a hard time thinking about what I’m doing right, so it’s nice to be reminded to take a moment to pat myself on the back 🙂

    1. MrsA0K2001

      February 28, 2015 at 10:28 pm

I love the Rosa Parks’ quote too. Thank you, it was truly hard for me to write, isn’t that crazy? I’m glad I did, and I can now think of even more things. You should make a list of all things you’re doing right even if it’s for yourself. I’m sure you are doing plenty right.

Girl, you’re such a shining soul. It just shows and shows! I love what you can proudly say you’re good at.
I’m a TERRIBLE cook, but I think I’ve been better about romance although I asked my husband out on a lunch date yesterday and both kids stayed home sick. I know that wasn’t my fault.

I’ve been good at blogging and photography lately!

    1. MrsA0K2001

      February 28, 2015 at 10:37 pm

Tamara… you’re making me blush! Thank you.
I’m sure you’re quite romantic, I can feel how you love your husband through your sweet words. Sorry the babies were sick. 🙁

You’re good at blogging and photography… ALWAYS!

I think I could say the same about you, scratch that, I KNOW I can say the same about you.
I’m so very thankful you are in my life. 🙂

Bravo, and I have never thought about this and yet YES…. We don’t pat ourselves on the back or even accept compliments. I always brush off a compliment…. Such bad form.

Can I steal “bomb-ass-meals” ??? I so do that, FROM SCRATCH!!!! Heck yes, I pride myself on that one 🙂

    Nice job mate.

Hope you and the family are having a fantastic Sunday afternoon.

I am the same way, Ray. However, I’m quite sure you already knew that, huh? This was big for me, to publicly pat myself on the back. I’m actually quite glad I did, it felt nice. I may do it again 🙂

Yes, please do, I would love to hear of a bomb-ass-meals revolution! I love that your pride yourself on from scratch cooking, kudos to you!

I haven’t felt like I’ve been doing anything right. I am working more now, and slowly learning how to get something done during the day besides just watching the kids. Of course, now, I’m kinda neglecting them… oh, I’ll figure it out.

    1. MrsA0K2001

      March 5, 2015 at 7:23 am

I’m sure you will. I am also sure you’re probably doing wonderfully, us women/mamas are SO incredibly hard on ourselves. You’ve got “right” in your life, it’s okay to embrace it. 🙂
      XOXO
