I’m making the case for creatives, love, and lovers of creatives.
Chances are that if you love a creative you’ll find yourself having glitter stuck to your feet, watercolors taking over your kitchen table, and wadded up balls of paper thoughts that didn’t make the cut. Chances are if this is the case you will attempt to oversee these things, these quirks, these symbols of your love’s work and frustration. You could get angry and vacuum away glitter, pour out watercolors, or iron out paper wads, but if you love a creative that’s not what you do at all. Because to love a creative is to accept them flaws, creative quirks and all. If you truly love a creative you push them, let them know they can do it. You live with the glitter, you learn a little about watercolors, and you encourage the writer of words.
If you love a creative you may hear “Does this make me look fat” but more than likely you’ll hear, “Is this good enough? Should I share?” And if you truly love said creative you’ll tell him or her the truth in the most constructive way. You may even say, “Babe, you are your worst critic. I love your work, woman!” (or man) You don’t have to say those words, you have to mean those words, because creatives know when you’re lying. It’s true. Creatives have a special talent of not only creating but mind reading too.
Creatives may sometimes have 50,000 tabs running at one time. He or she may consider different adventures, sometimes they’re lucrative and sometimes they’re not, but they make said creative happy, and that makes you happy. Happiness is an emotion that spills over and pours into your life and trickles down, you want to catch that and keep it going, don’t let it get drained. It’s not your sole responsibility to keep the creativeness coming, but it is part of loving a creative to cheer on the creativeness… the happiness that is: making.
When your creative gets an offer for a creative endeavor but starts to open up all the tabs and the rainbow spinning wheel takes over, you say, “You got this.” OR you may say, “This one is my favorite. I think you should go with this!” And chances are the creative will listen to you and create this…
Creating with Case App
Case App contacted me about creating a custom iPhone case or laptop skin using my own design, of course I said YES! However, I was stumped. I kept kicking around ideas, the wheels began to spin, and I started thinking out loud. That’s when my love said, “Babe, you should use the Zentangle Frozen drawing. That drawing is really good.” That man is a genius! I drew that picture last year and it was one of my most liked and commented images I shared on Instagram. It was also the drawing that sparked so many ideas for future projects, so yes, he was right, I SHOULD use that image. And obviously I did. I also used some of the clipart available on the Case App website. It took me less than 30 minutes to create a custom case for one of my love and I’s greatest masterpieces: our daughter.
I’m going to toot my own horn for a second, all of my daughter’s friends LOVE her new case. They told her they want to put an order in for one of my designs, those kids are geniuses too! 🙂 I’m thankful that my husband gets me. I’m glad that he knew I would stir myself dizzy trying to figure out things when all along the answer was in front of me. It’s the best to know that he believes in me. It’s also super awesome of Case App to give one of you lucky readers a $40 credit to make your very own custom case!
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Psst… CaseApp is also offering a 20% discount for my lovely friends! Use the code MRSAOK20 😉
Speaking of creatives did you know I’m a DIY editor over at Touched Magazine? I shared a simple DIY I think you may like over there.

February 25, 2016 at 10:03 amI do consider myself a creative! If I won, I might want to use a Scarlet Bella design, if that would be ok. I just adore everything my kid does. (well.. creative-wise, anyway)
I think loving me must be weird for my family. There’s the writer part of me that will jump up to jot down ideas, in the middle of talking or driving or whatnot.
There’s the blogger side of me that shops for strange things and makes my family use them.
There’s the photographer side of me that.. well.. enough said about that!
MrsA0K2001
February 27, 2016 at 6:45 pmI consider you a super creative!
Oh a Scarlet Bella design would be amazing! I just love her name. 🙂
I think loving me must be weird too; you’re not alone there.
Keeping creating! And good luck.
XOXO

February 25, 2016 at 1:30 pmI love the case! How do you find it on their website? Is it in the pre-made design section? I’m the creative in our house and my husband gets frustrated with my mess of paints, scrapbook paper, paper cutters and other paraphernalia. I can never contain it all to one place!
MrsA0K2001
February 28, 2016 at 9:25 pmThank you, Karen! I wish it was sold on their website, I mean, if Mama could get paid. 😉
I cannot contain my crafty mess either, plus the kids are in on it too which means triple the mess.
xoxo

February 25, 2016 at 1:56 pmI need to take more time out to be creative. I always feel much better when I do! The “my brain has too many tabs open” is something I reference frequently.
MrsA0K2001
February 28, 2016 at 9:27 pmI feel like creative time helps with the tabs. I mean, I still have the tabs running when I’m creating but those tabs are a little more muted and they’re are less. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Allison.
XOXO

February 26, 2016 at 5:22 pmI consider myself creative but only using technology. Give me a pen and I don’t know what to do with it. I really like your drawing. If I win, I want your drawing :).
MrsA0K2001
February 29, 2016 at 8:15 pmYour photography and writing!! 🙂 Yes, I would certainly consider you a creative as well.
Aww you’re so sweet! I still owe you an owl, I found the owl I was working on before I moved from South Carolina.

February 26, 2016 at 5:23 pmI am not creative. I can visualize certain things, but can never translate them into actual products. So I guess i’m half-creative. I am thankful for creative people like yourself. Congrats on the brand opportunity. Hope you are doing well!
MrsA0K2001
February 29, 2016 at 8:20 pmYou are totally creative! You run a blog, you paint with friends, and I’m sure you do some creative things at school too.
Thanks for the sweet comment, Lowanda!
I hope this week treats you well.
XOXO

February 26, 2016 at 6:51 pmI would not say that I’m creative, but my husband and kids are. They like to draw are pretty good too. My level of drawing is just a step above stick figures 🙂 So I would let my husband design a case for me.
MrsA0K2001
March 1, 2016 at 5:50 pmThat would be sweet, having your husband create a case for you. 🙂
I think you’re a creative, you write, homeschool, and don’t you sew?

February 26, 2016 at 7:05 pmWhat a great giveaway! I’d like to think of myself as a creative–at least in terms of how I think and (hopefully!) my passion for writing 🙂

March 1, 2016 at 5:58 pmThank you, Charlotte. 🙂
I’d say you’re a creative too. 🙂

February 28, 2016 at 7:14 amOh you know I consider myself to be a creative! 😉
Loving a creative really is about all of these things. I feel like I’m constantly asking Sam for feedback on my work. He’s one of my biggest supporters! In my case, instead of glitter, there are often jump rings all over our house (though, fortunately, less so since I acquired my studio space).
MrsA0K2001
March 1, 2016 at 6:00 pmYes! You’re a SUPER CREATIVE! 🙂
Our lovers/supporters are the best for pushing us, cheering us, putting up with us, and seeing past the creative mess. 🙂
XOXO

February 29, 2016 at 12:24 amI think it would be so fun to take a photo of a picture my child has drawn and turn that into a phone case. I think that would be pretty creative =)

February 29, 2016 at 3:38 pmLoved the ‘too many tabs’ metaphor!
Cool case – beautiful portrait.

Thank you and thank you!
