#TWSS Mother Teresa: If you judge people you have not time to love them.

[tweetthis]If you judge people, you have no time to love them. #TWSS [/tweetthis]

Let’s face it we have all judged or have been judged. We have judged and misjudged, moved on or regretted our harsh preconceptions. Lately, there seems to be so much judging; people acting on “thoughts” “fears” or “power.” People have been murdered, bullied, or have created their own escape. Judgment.

Do we ask questions anymore? Do we know our neighbors? Are we asking to be judged?

Do we ask to be judged? |judgement|

Could you imagine how things would be if we didn’t act on our preconceived notions: if we could turn back the hands of time and instead smile, ask questions, take back hurtful words, put that bullet back in the gun…

Could you imagine if we didn’t see black and white but only saw love and smiles? Judgment, keeps us from doing that, sometimes.

Judgement doesn’t give us time to say, “It’ll all be okay, let me help you with that” instead it muddies our inner sweet and says “Damn, she should have more control of her kids. Her hands are seriously full.”

Judgement speaks ugliness. It says clinch your purse, quick lock the car, and that girl in the red dress is such a whore. It whispers in your ear don’t make eye contact, don’t show your human side.

I guess…

I know I’m guilty. My hands are dirty with judge. We’re human. We judge. (Judgement can be good when it’s not being bad). It is what we do with our thoughts that separates us from the others. The extreme judgers who take things into their own hands. The ones who have no problem stealing the life (figuratively or literally) from another man or woman.

Extreme judgers of the world, I’d like to introduce you to my friend, Empathy.

Empathy.

Empathy will show you that we are all alike. We may look different, we may have grown up differently, but we love, we laugh, we cry, we bleed and deep down we all want to be liked.Show us yours

Good reminder to show empathy to others. I’m trying to make it a point to acknowledgement people — with a smile, nod, a hello. Let’s be more human to one another.

That is definitely something I am truly working on too. I want to be present, empathetic, caring, and nicer than I have to. 🙂

I usually don’t judge until I’m judged first. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but I guess that’s the trick of vindication. You feel better in the short run. In the end it’s better to be a kind, loving, and empathetic person. It would be so nice if we all just loved!

I have really tried to become more attentive to my thoughts. I know what ever comes out of my mouth will mirror in my children, therefore I’m trying to remain vigilant with the words I choose to speak in my children’s presence. I’m also trying to remind my husband to do the same.
When people judge us, it’s hard to not do the same. We are human. But you’re absolutely right, two wrongs do NOT make a right.

This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately. The circle of judgment is easy to get caught up in… Someone judges you, you judge them… Empathy is something we should all strive for 🙂

Judgment is one vicious cycle, right?
Empathy and kindness are contagious too, I wish people would spread that more. 🙂

So beautifully put! Can you imagine how much better our world would be if we could all put judgement aside for a moment and just try to imagine for a moment what another person is experiencing? At my last job we did this fantastic (and real eye-opening) exercise where we looked at a picture of a room and said what we saw. Basically our responses were full of harsh judgements. We were then told to look at it from a very different perspective and see all the things that were *great* about that room and so much less judgy. I don’t do it as often a I would like, but I try to think with this perspective more.

      Thank you, Bev.
I would love to tell you I could imagine, but I’m not sure if I can. And I know that’s sad and sounds quite pessimistic of me to say; but some people are just to rooted in their thoughts, their wrongs and their rights. When people begin to believe that their way is the only way and everyone else is wrong if they do not: live, think, look, love or believe the same, that’s when we have a problem. Sadly, that’s a problem we have today.

That exercise sounds great! I’m going to try it on my husband.

Beautiful. I’m totally guilty as well. I can go home and think about it but then I’m out in public and judging the first sour-faced person I see. Sometimes I imagine I am that sour-faced person! It’s hard.

      Thanks, Tamara.
It is hard. I have judged and then came home to regret it or even just dropped it there. I have also been so empathic to the point of tears in public, but something held me back from acting on my empathy to interact with that person to see if there was something I could do to improve his day. Fear.?.

Excellent quotes. I have learned so much about people from the blogging community – kids with special needs in particular and how they are all different. I hope I’ve never “outwardly” judged anyone, but I’ve definitely learned so much that I don’t judge inwardly as much as I used to.

      Thank you, Kenya.
I agree with you the blogging community is a great place to learn and grow. I am not sure everyone sees that, but I certainly do. I see how you can begin to learn and love complete strangers, and of course, want nothing but the best for them and their families. I am really focusing on my thoughts these days, sometimes they’re not as pretty as I would like. I’m a work in progress.
      XOXO
