You’ve Got Happy Mail {Unboxing and Small Shop Love}

I love happy mail.

Like a lot. Perhaps, my love affair dates back to the days when my Dad was stationed in some far off place and sent us mail. It was nice to receive a letter from him and occasionally stickers. One time he sent stickers that came in a cookie package, they smelled so heavenly. I also fondly remember the days of I Can Read books in the mail when I was younger. Those mail days always made me happy. When I was older my parents were part of a music mail service, do you remember those? You were able to pick out X amount of CDs each month or every 3 months, I don’t completely remember, but it was awesome. My parents chose their CDs and my brother and I chose ours (my older siblings were grown and out of the house at the time).

Perchance that’s why I was an early adopter to Netflix? I was a part of Netflix before Netflix was all digital and chill. Do you remember that? Jiminy Cricket I’m sounding really old right now, aren’t I? 🙂 The best happy mail that I received was from my husband. When he would send us (my oldest daughter and I) letters and random surprises while he was in Iraq, those surprises helped keep me going. I wrote to him like one would drink water. If my writing was not sent to him, it was in the book. I wrote pretty much every single day he was gone in a book to document our life while he was away.

You’ve got happy mail

I live faraway from family and friends, happy mail is a distant hug that I need from time to time. Thankfully, I have friends and some family members who love to spread happiness in the mail, so I’m sending and receiving mail often-ish. 🙂 I’m definitely sending out mail seasonally- I just wrote about that here. Today I want to share a recent happy mail box I received. If you’re a happy mail lover, you’re going to swoon over this. You know I did.

A few weeks back I entered a Happy Mail loop giveaway on Instagram. I honestly didn’t think the odds were in my favor. However,  I decided to give it a try because all the shops in the giveaway are awesome and obviously they share the same affinity for happy mail as I do.

Dani from Big Hugs Little Envelopes tagged me on Instagram to let me know I won on a Saturday morning. Saturday + Happy Mail Giveaway Win= Happy Saturday Happy Mail Happy Dance! And I mean like MC Hammer style running man. (Again with the dating myself!)

Are you ready to see what I got?

Before I share all of my goodies… Happy 2 Years in Business, Big Hugs Little Envelopes (BHLE)! (That was the reason for this giveaway. 🙂 )

Dani, the lady behind Big Hugs Little Envelope, is such a sweetheart by the way. She’s a super supporter in the small business community and in her own community. I’m enjoying getting to know Dani via Instagram. 🙂 You may want to follow her there. But I think you’ll certainly wanna check out her shop. “My shop quickly grew beyond greeting cards, and I now feature all sorts of items that are designed to spread kindness and love.” <- You’ve got to get behind that!

BHLE sent me three sticker pages, a set of happy mail cards, pens, and BHLE lip balm. The super cute lip balm holder is courtesy of Brite Designs Studio .

  1. I am in love with your GIF! Mail is a huge part of my life since I moved 3000 miles away from family and friends. I tend to ship off and receive a dozen packages a month. And I am totally going to adopt the name happy mail for it now!

    1. Yay! I’m glad you’re adopting the phrase Happy Mail 🙂
I’m originally from Texas, but I left when I was 20. I’ve moved to IL, back to TX, SC, and currently I reside in WA, so happy mail has been such ray of sunshine in my life to keep in contact with family and friends. 🙂
Wishing you tons of happy mail!

  2. I love how adorable the packaging is. You forget how small things are sometimes cuter. I love sending stuff through snail mail still!

    1. I’m glad to hear you’re a mail lover too. I hope the practice of sending mail is never lost.

  3. So many super cute items in your happy mail box. 🙂 I love winning giveaways and this one was a really awesome one to win. My favorites are those “happy mail” stamps.

    1. I couldn’t agree more!! It’s the best to open up a envelope or package from loved ones, you can just feel the love and thought that went to it.

  4. There is no better surprise than REAL mail! Oh, and how cute are all these goodies in the box? That unicorn pen is too charming – and all the stationary is hilarious! I love writing letters and sending them. Gotta do more of that!

    1. I’ve decided to have mail days scheduled in my planer- time to sit down and fill out a card for someone who may need a some happy mail. 🙂 I’m hoping to stick to that.

  5. I love happy mail as well! It is part of the reason I got into e-mailing companies (forever ago) to ask for samples and coupons lol I always go so excited when something would show up

  6. Happy mail is the best! We have a friend that sends my daughters the most perfect little packages every month, just for fun. She’s the BEST! I love that happy mail stamp!

    1. OH MY GOSH YOUR FRIEND IS AWESOME!! That is the sweetest thing!!!
I bet your girls love their monthly happy mail.

  7. Awwwww, sweet Dean! You’re amazing! I love this sooo very much! I’m so so glad you enjoyed your box of goodies! Hugs, my sweet friend! 💖💖💖

  8. What a great idea – and so fun! This wold be great for kids to learn the art of letter writing. When I was a teenager – I was a avid writer to all my friends and family. Now, I LOVE email!!

    1. I wish more people would write letters. I always have my kids write out thank you notes for mail they receive…. but sometimes “I” forget to send them out… DOH!

  9. I’m totally right there with you on Netflix. I remember my husband and I spending hours organizing our queue to make sure we got the movies we wanted and then having to wait 3 to 5 days for them to come in the mail, lol.

  10. So fun! Congrats!!! And PS – I used to get TAPES by mail…yep, TAPES – I am THAT old hahahaha! What a super sweet gesture. I also love getting surprises in the mail – usually bought online by me 🙂

  12. This is really nice. I have a weakness for notes and stationaries as well. I think you definitely hit the jackpot! The stamps are adorable too, actually, everything is!

  13. Holy cow, yes. The music subscription! I’m just sad that my parents always said no! What gives?!
Happy mail rocks. It’s like in that show Blue’s Clues when the mail comes. I’m like that every day, just because of the possibility that it’s not all bills. MAAAAIIIILLL!

  14. Wow! You received a lot of cool stuff! What a sweet idea. I use email a great deal for work, but I still love writing and receiving written letters via snail mail. I get really girlie with the stickers and stamps too. Ha, ha! Love it!

  15. You received so many great items in your Happy Mail and I love the envelope earrings! I totally remember ordering CDs from Columbia House and receiving them in the mail. I think everyone did that during that time 🙂

  16. I love happy mail and I always love your happy mail! You brought back some serious memories with the movies and music happy mail. I used to order from them all the time. That’s how I stocked up on everything. Oh, I was so upset when that ended. 🙂
